LEAD Conference 2018 Tomorrow our year 6 students will travel to New Plymouth for the LEAD 2018 Conference. We will be leaving school at 8:30am, so make sure you are at school on time. Students need to bring morning tea, lunch (unless you ordered piz-za), water bottle, a pen and their best manners.

Manukorihi Intermedi-ate Information for Year 5 and 6’s Manukorihi Intermediate’s new Prin-cipal Fiona Low and a few Manukori-hi school leaders are coming to visit Mimi School on Tuesday, 7th August 2018 at 10am for an information session for our year 5 and 6 stu-dents. Interested parents are wel-come to attend.

Bus Vests We are encouraging all Mimi stu-dents to wear their bus vests when travelling on the school bus. Stu-dents who wear their vests all week will go in the draw for a prize each week. Last week’s winner was Tayla Ingham. This Friday the lucky win-ner will receive a MARS bar.

Yummy Stickers Once again we are col-lecting Yummy stickers to convert into some cool sports gear for our school. This is the last term to collect stickers for this year, so please return your completed sheets to the school office by 21st September 2018. We also have special sheets in the office for the cut-out labels on the apple bags.

Gardening We are on the lookout for someone who can do some gardening at school (approx. 2-3 days per term). If you are keen, please come in for a chat.

Strictly JUMP JAM Competition The Strictly JUMP JAM competition is coming to New Plymouth on Fri-day, 21st September (approx. starting at 6pm and finished by 9pm). Year 4/5/6 students will perform one dance routine on the night. The price per child is $22, this includes tee shirt, entry to watch and placing/participation certificate. We will be practicing at school during lunch times to perfect our routine. Please return the permission slip by 7th August (no later as sign up will have closed).

Cross Country The children are starting to practice for the upcoming Cross Country event. Please send shoes along if needed. Lucky Bookclub Issue 5 of the Lucky Bookclub is out now. Orders are due by Friday, 10th August. If paying by cheque, please remember to make cheque out to Scholastics NZ. You can also order online at www.bookclub.scholastic.co.nz.

NZEI—Teachers Strike Action 15th August As you may know NZEI, the union which represents Primary Teachers and Princi-pals, is currently nego-tiating with the Ministry of Education for im-proved conditions for teachers. Over the last week Teachers and Principals have been voting on whether or not to Strike for a half day or a full day on 15th August. On Tues-day the results were made public and there will be a full day strike. Our board will make a decision by the end of the week whether Mimi School will remain open or close for the day. Mr Holden will be available to discuss the strike and answer any questions you may have at any time.

Pie Orders Delivery date for the pies is Monday, 20th August 2018.

Mamma Mia Movie Night FUNdraiser Please support our latest Home & School Fundraiser on Wednesday, 22nd August at 8:30pm at Event Cinema Top Town. Spread the word and get your tickets for $25 from the school office!

Home & School Meet-ing The next Home & School Meeting is on Monday, 6th August 2018 at 3pm. We’ll discuss what’s coming up in Term 3 and debriefing from the Quiz Night.

Basketball Training: Tuesdays at lunchtime at the Urenui Community Centre. It would be great if we could have some volunteer parents who could assist with transport.
