6.   Experience  preparing  and  managing  budgets  (organizational  and  project);  7.   Exceptional  written  and  oral  communication  abilities;  8.   Motivated  to  initiate  creative  fundraising  efforts  9.   Organized,  self-­‐‑motivated  and  strong  attention  to  detail;  10.  Ability  to  perform  physical  labor  in  all  weather  conditions  including  hiking,  wading  in  

streams,  planting  trees  and  lifting  up  to  50  lbs.;  and  11.  Access  to  personal  vehicle  and  ability  to  travel  for  work  (reimbursed  for  mileage  at  the  

current  WA  State  rate).  

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:      Project  &  Program  Management    

•   Manage  projects  including  project  identification,  feasibility,  landowner  communications,  budget  management,  design,  permitting,  implementation  and  monitoring;  

•   Forge  partnerships  with  other  organizations  to  assist  Mid  Sound  in  carrying  out  its  mission  while  building  its  own  organizational  capacity;  

•   Ensure  that  fair,  open  and  competitive  procedures  are  followed  for  soliciting  bids  and  awarding  contracts,  and  that  these  processes  comply  with  state  and  federal  requirements;  

•   Work  independently  and  collaboratively  to  prepare  and  submit  competitive  applications  for  grants  and  contracts  to  local,  state,  and  federal  agencies,  and  private  foundations  to  fund  projects  and  programs;    

•   Develop,  implement,  and  collaborate  on  education  and  outreach  initiatives  aligned  with  the  organization's  mission;  

•   Ensure  that  grant  and  program  reports  are  submitted,  accurate  and  timely;  •   Lead  volunteers  and  work  crews  in  field  to  accomplish  tasks;  and  •   Delegate  work  to  other  staff  and  volunteers.  

 Organizational  Management    

•   Work  with  board  to  help  the  organization  meet  its  mission,  goals  and  objectives  laid  out  in  Mid  Sound’s  strategic  plan;  

•   Ensure  smooth  administrative  functioning,  including  ensuring  that  organization  has  adequate  insurance  coverage,  maintaining  relevant  licenses  with  the  state,  filing  annual  tax  forms  in  a  timely  manner,  and  ensuring  compliance  with  state  and  federal  laws  and  grant  contracts;  

•   Responsible  for  public  outreach  and  media  (website,  news  releases,  communications  with  the  media,  etc.).  Positively  represent  the  organization  to  the  public.  Deliver  public  presentations  and  tours  with  other  MSFEG  staff  to  funders,  partners,  members,  donors  and  community  groups  

•   Work  to  build  a  sustainable  and  diverse  funding  strategy  for  the  organization.

Financial  &  Contract  Management    •   Ensure  that  fiscal  policies  are  current  and  followed,  and  that  the  organization  

practices  generally  accepted  accounting  principles;    •   Oversee  all  business  transactions  including  payment  of  office  expenditures,  project  

bills  and  payroll,  and  receipt  of  all  income.  Must  also  file  all  business  documents  to  comply  with  requirements  of  local,  state  and  federal  agencies;    

•   Oversee  completion  of  all  reports,  documentation  and  invoices  required  for  each  grant,  contract  and  project;  

•   Ensure  matching  funds  to  grants  are  accurately  tracked,  documented  and  reported    •   Ensure  the  board  receives  accurate  and  regular  financial  reports  and  other  financial  

documents  as  requested;  •   Review  all  MSFEG  contracts  (grant,  vendor,  personal  service,  construction)  and  

billings;  and  •   Develop  and  track  annual  organizational  budget  and  project  budgets.  

 Personnel  Management    

•   Ensure  compliance  with  all  provisions  of  MSFEG’s  Personnel  Policies;    •   Recruit,  select  and  release  staff,  consultants  and  contractors  as  needed  to  build  an  

effective  team;  and    •   Engage  volunteers  and  interns  as  appropriate  to  complete  projects.  

 Board  Support    

•   Participate  in  board  meetings,  assist  board  in  scheduling  meetings,  developing  agendas,  and  ensure  that  board  has  appropriate  information  and  reports  to  make  appropriate  decisions;    

•   Support  the  board  in  setting  policy  and  overseeing  organizational  mission;    •   Keep  board  informed  of  key  organizational  activities,  accomplishments  and  

concerns;  •   Ensure  all  board  documents  are  appropriately  archived;  and    •   Assist  with  board  recruitment.    

 Representation  of  MSFEG  in  local,  regional,  and  statewide  forums    

•   Ensure  MSFEG  has  representation  in  appropriate  lead  entity  and  regional  organization  technical  and  citizen’s  committees  and  other  forums;  

•   Serve  as  “board  alternate”  and  participate  in  Regional  Fisheries  Coalition  (RFC)  by  attending  quarterly  meetings,  and  participating  in  weekly  conference  calls;  

•   Meet  with  state  legislators  and  their  staff,  and  other  elected  officials  in  Olympia  and  locally  as  needed  to  provide  information  about  the  RFEG  program  and  MSFEG.
