8:30 a.m. The State of Agricultural Economics Dr. David M. Kohl, Professor Emeritus, Virginia Tech
The agriculture economy is in an elongated state of low margins and extreme volatility. The 1980’s farm crisis played havoc on the average to below average production managers; however, the current down cycle is affecting average to below average business managers. The current cycle is a difference maker for those who have high business IQ and are proactive managers versus reactive managers. That being said, where are world and domestic economics taking the agricultural industry? What are the seismic shifts occurring in the mega trends that will determine the bottom-line winners? What can you expect to happen to land values, interest rates and the financial and economic margins of agriculture? What are the ultimate practices that will position your business, family and personal life to navigate the white waters and waves in your journey? Find out in this invigorating session with Dr. Kohl.
