Club Challenge
Working in groups thestudents designed
their own fantasy
football clubs, com-
plete with stadium,
team and handmade
origami shirts.
It has been a busy few
weeks at the centre.
This term we have
welcomed both Junior
and Secondary Schools
from Rushden, Higham
Ferrers and Raunds.
The PfS sessions, run-
ning after school aim
to improve ICT, Liter-acy and Numeracy
skills as well as boost
confidence, listening
skills and teamwork.
The sessions reflect
our Football setting
and use sport to in-
spire.
During this term the

swered clues to find seat
numbers in the stadium.Letters on the clues
then needed to be rear-
ranged to find three
animals.

Lauren Rowe, our
young mentor was

„Outstanding Contribu-
tion to Volunteering‟ in
the Children and
Young People‟s
Shadow Board
Awards. The
awards, held at
Sywell Aero-
Award Nomination
for our Young Mentor
drome celebrated the
achievements of
young people in
Northamptonshire.
Lauren was the young-
est in her cate-
gory and was
shortlisted from
400 applicants for
her work at clubs
across Northants.

Summer Term Presentation Evening
The Presentation Eve-ning for the Diamonds
Study Centre was held
in the Kimberley Suite
at Rushden and Dia-
monds Football
Club. Relatives and
teachers watched the
youngsters, aged be-
tween 9 and 14 years,
being presented with
their certificates by
Rushden & Diamonds
Academy Players
James, Jordan andMax.
Study Centre Manager
Rob Jones said, “The
youngsters have been
a credit to their fami-
lies and their schools
and the tremendous
turnout reflected the
high regard shown for
the Playing for Suc-
cess initiative. I would
also like to take this
opportu-nity to
thank all
of the
teachers
and par-
ents for

for volunteer mentors
to help with the PfS
programme after
school.
We run in two blocks
from 3pm-5pm and
5pm-7pm Tuesdays,
Wednesdays and
Thursdays. Mentors work along-
side our staff assist-
ing the young learners
with their work. You
don‟t have to have any
formal qualifications
