Nationally-known speakers Dr. Gary Smalley and Ted Cunningham will present “Love and Laughter” from 7-9 p.m. Feb. 25 and 9 a.m.-3p.m. Feb. 26 at Mobberly Baptist Church in Longview. A limited number of tickets are available in the Welcome Center. If you buy one ticket at the regular price of $30, you will get a companion ticket free. Scholarships are avail- able. Marvin will coordinate bus and car transporta- tion or you may drive yourself. On the way home Saturday evening, Marvin buses will stop at Johnny Cace’s for fellowship and an early din- ner. GUEST PREACHER Rev. Sandra Smith, supervisor of the Northwest District, will bring wisdom and humor as she preaches in both traditional services Feb. 27.

She has served churches throughout the Texas Annual Conference for 36 years before moving to Tyler. She is married to Randy, a retired Meth-odist minister, and has a grown son.

ONE ROOM SUNDAY SCHOOL All adult Sunday School classes are invited to One Room Sunday School at 9:45 a.m. Feb.27 in Pirtle Hall. There will be great fellowship and a special program. Come hear about how the church will celebrate Lent together.

MATURE ADULTS Have lunch with former NFL official Duwayne Gandy at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 17, in Pirtle Hall. Duwayne officiated college and Pro Bowl games and is an NFL Alumni member. MEN Monday Morning Men's Group meets from 6:30-7:30 a.m. in the Wesley Missions Center. Come at 6 a.m. for donuts and fellowship.

Tuesday Morning Men's Bible Study meets from 6:45-7:30 a.m. at The Egg and I. Men are invited to order their own breakfast.

Wednesday Laymen’s Lunch meets at 11:30 a.m. Come for lunch and a devotional in Pirtle Hall

MISSIONS Our annual Great Day of Service is set for Satur-day, March 26.This church-wide missions event is for all ages and will provide a wide variety of ser-vice projects in the Tyler area. The day will kick-off with a breakfast at 7:30 a.m. in Pirtle Hall. After a great meal and a devotional, we will break up into work teams. There will be service opportuni-ties for all skills and interests. Lunch will be pro-vided on each work site. Registration will begin on March 1.

SINGLE ADULTS Young and mid-age single adults meet at the home of Betsy Pattullo at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 18, for a karaoke party. For information con-tact Betsy Pattullo ([email protected]).

WOMEN This month’s UMW dinner program is open to the community. The program will be at 6 p.m. Feb. 28. Guest speaker is Tom Harken, Horatio Alger Award of Distinguished Americans winner and author of The Millionaire’s Secret. From childhood illness, illiteracy and door-to-door selling, Tom Harken battled life with a dark secret. Supporting a family and holding a job was tenuous for him because he couldn’t read or write. With his wife, Melba, encouraging, and his own personal de-termination and faith, he turned that handicap into a success story. His life story inspires thou-sands who have found his faith and determina-tion can become their story.

He will sign books at 5:30 p.m., dinner will be served at 6 and the program will follow. Meal res-ervations are required. Make reservations in the Welcome Center.

COOKIES AND BOOKS This book club for women, will meet at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 24. The book topic is Scouting the Divine by Margaret Feinbert. All women are invited to this group which meets on the fourth Thursday of each month in members’ homes. Contact Mary Lynn Smith ([email protected]) for the Feb-ruary location.

BIBLE STUDY A Tuesday morning Bible study led by Julie Love Brown will meet from 9:30-11 a.m. beginning March 1. The six-week study “Faithful, Abundant, True” will feature resources from Beth Moore, Kay Arthur and Priscilla Shirer. God is faithful. His provi-sion is abundant, and his promises are true. THE SOUL OF MUSIC

The Soul of Music series wraps up on Sunday, Feb. 20, after five weeks of exploring the heart of music and the heart of God. The topic for Sunday is humility and the music focus is the 2000s.
