The clock of life is wound but once,
And no man has the power
To tell just when the hands will stop...
On what day... or what hour
Now is the only time you have
So live it with a will
Don’t wait until tomorrow
The hands may then be still.

Aft er spending some ti me with us, you’re sure to be surprised. You see, our Midwestern paradise is the perfect place to work, live, play,
and raise a family. We’ve got all of those great things that make up a thriving metropolis, like professional sports, the arts, history, shopping,
and entertainment, without a lot of the fuss that is usually att ached. We have neighborhoods, rolling hills, green pastures and wide open spaces
instead. Sure we’ve even got crime, but it’s more the Andy Griffi th fl avor than the NYPD Blue variety. And, we probably move at a slower pace
than some, but we haven’t heard any complaints lately. You can be sure that our homes are warm, our hospitality is genuine and our friendships are real. We’re really glad you’re here, and we hope you enjoy your stay with us! Oh, and if you’re looking for the perfect souvenir to take back to the folks at home, consider this. Take our atti tudes, outlooks and values
home with you, and share them. Start looking at things with a litt le more wholesome viewpoint. Slow down and enjoy life a bit.
You’ll feel good about it, and so will we. We sincerely hope you have a great ti me at the Mid-America Caravan.

Concours d’Elegance
The Concours d’Elegance is a showing of cars. The cars are prepared and cleaned to appear as close to showroom original as possible. Cars are classed in accordance with rules established by the MBCA National Events Committee. Yhe event is judged, and trophies are awarded for: Best of Class, Best ot Show, and Judges Choice. In Show Class, the entire car, including the undercarriage, is judged. In Street Class, the undercarriage is not judged. Cars in the Display Class are not judged at all.
Mid-America CaravanDecriptions of Events
Defensive Driving
Defensive Driving is a series of small specific courses, usually defined by pylons, which are designed to improve driving skills and assist the driver in better understanding how his/her car will react during turning and braking. Most of the courses are low speed events and are recommended for all drivers, even if they are not entering the Autocross or track events
Autocross
An Autocross is a low to moderate speed driving event held on a parking lot or similar area. The course of straight ways and turns is designed by pylons. The object is to traverse the course as quickly as possible without striking the cone or going off course. Drivers are permitted to walk the course to become familiarwith the layout, the track surface, and any unusual conditions.
Time Trials
Time Trials are competitive laps on the 2.5 mile full road course. No more than two or three cars are on the track at the same time, usually separated by 45-50 seconds. The procedure consists of a warm-up lap, three consecutive timed laps, and a cool-down lap. To participate in time trials, drivers must have completed the defensive driving and practice runs with a trained in-car instructor. Emphasis is on handling, control, braking, and proper use of the hands and eyes. There are established rules for one car passing another.
Rallye
A Road Rallye is a competitive drive on local highways and roads. A driver and navigator drive a selected route and answer questions from information gathered along the Rallye route. Miles and answers to the questions all count toward the final score. Trophies are awarded for the best placing.
Acceleration Runs
The Acceleration Run is a quarter-mile run from a standing start. The object is to complete the distance in the shortest amount of time. Cars are on the drag strip two at a time and given a minimum of three runs.

3PM Mercedes-Benz Maintenence for LadiesGeorge Murphy, MBCA Technical Director
Does a mysterious light glowing on your car’s dashboard throw you into panic mode? Fear no more! Your MBCA Technical Director George Murphy can help you make the transition from hysteria to amateur mechanic. You’ll learn about all those indicators on the dashboard, the systems they’re tied to, and how to recognize those systems under the hood. You’ll become an expert troubleshooter of strange smells and funny noises. And you’ll get the lowdown on the smartest, safest things to do during on-the-road emergencies (like changing a flat tire). So you can keep your cool the next time automotive adversity comes your way. Be sure to bring to the class the owner’s manual for your car.
