The water molecules found in the material have the greatest effect on the microwavesignal. The higher the water content, the higher the Phase Shift.

The HK Systems use a microwave signal todetermine the BRIX of all kind of sugarsolutions and slurries. Microwaves areelectromagnetic waves similar to radio waves.Just like radio waves, microwaves arecapable of traveling from a transmitter to areceiver in either a vacuum or through a spacefilled with a material. When the microwave signaltravels in a vacuum; its speed, frequency, andenergy are constant. When the space is filledwith a material containing a varying amount ofwater; the speed, frequency and energy of thewave will change as the water content varies. Bymeasuring the changes in the properties ofthe microwave signal, it is possible todetermine the amount of water in the material.

The HK-Systemsneeds only singlepoint calibration. You need to entervalue of onesample to startmeasurement.Whatever littleerror, if there, can be adjustedafterward byoffset adjustmentfrom OperatingUnit

A) The HK Microwave Systemperforms the following stepsduring its measurement cycle:

1) A microwave signal is

2) The signal is transmittedfrom the Microwavesignal generator to a pinantenna over a coax cable.

3) One antenna acts as atransmitting antenna, andother acts as a receivingantenna.

4) The microwave signal transmits through the material from the transmittingantenna to the receiving antenna

5) From the receiving antenna the signal is transmitted back to the Microwave Signalgenerator.

6) The Microwave Signal Generator receives the signal and measures its properties.

7) The signal is then compared and converted into Brix Unit based on Lab analysis.

The microwave instruments aredesignd for ambient temperatures ofabout>0°C to +85°CFor both measuring devices thetemperature range of the to be ratedproduct is>0°C to +130°C The measuring instruments provides the

rated values as standard-analog signals(0/4 - 20mA) for the further processingin superposed open-loop, closed-loop orcontrol systems

In the plants, our instruments are inoperation permanently, i.e. independentfrom the status of the engineeringprocess. This can be normal operation, start up, shut down or standstill.

The measuring instruments can be pre-calibrated for different product-lines, the change fromproduct 1 to product 2 is effected by manual operation or by the superposed system.

The manual fine-tuning of the set parameters in the microwave-instruments occurs with theuser interface of the evaluation unit. The user interface of each evaluation unit is menucontrolled. This is realized by soft keys with a keypad control. This means, that the soft keysbelow the display with 2 x 24 characters have a different relevance in dependence of thestatus of operation.

With one view everything in the grasp !!!

ONEXIS 44

Additionally you can setup freely definable thresholds where the measured value is changingto red when it is outside your range.

Thus you 'seized' with only one view whether your product is within the given tolerances ornot.

HK6 Display - networking and visualization of up to 16 devices

With our HK6 Display softwareyou can verify the measuringresults of up to 16 devices atthe same time. Theinstruments will be connectedtogether via optional RS-485communication port and themeasured values will be polledperiodically. For a betteroverview the last 600 valuesfrom each device will beplotted in a graph.

Every parameter in the HK6 Displaysoftware is editable.

Equipment parameters like thecalibration, limits and the currentoutput can be configured via thesoftware and transferred to theinstrument.

For a check or validation of theconnected periphery the softwareis also able to create defined testcurrents with just a click.
