Micron® 77
Ultimate multi-season antifouling performanceMicron 77 is the ultimate antifouling solution that delivers outstanding
protection even in the harshest fouling conditions, in both salt and fresh
water environments.
Lasting for two seasons and beyond, Micron 77 continually self-polishes
to maximise speed, optimise fuel efficiency and provide constant protection
even during prolonged stationary periods.

A panel test conducted in Burnham, UK,examined six different antifouling technologies. After immersion for 2 years 7 months, the panelreveals very little fouling on sample no.1 –Micron 77 SPC, in comparison to sample no. 6 –an ablative CDP (Controlled Depletion Polymer)technology, which displays a significantly higherlevel of fouling.

Proven results – SPC technology has been successfully used on over5,000 commercial vessels.
The Battered Bull was immersed for 6 months using an International® SPC antifouling.
The boat travelled to Florida, Bahamas, crossed the Atlantic to the UK, throughout theBaltic Sea as far as Russia and then back across the Atlantic, down the North EastCoast of USA and back to Florida.
Captain Len Beck comments “We have put quite a lot of miles on the boat and theantifouling did it’s job really well. There won’t be any question about the product next time we’re ready to renew the antifouling”.

The fuel consumption of the SPC antifouling issignificantly lower than the CDP antifouling, resulting in significant fuel cost savings.1 Townsin, R.L., Byrne, D., Svensen, T.E. and Milne, A. “Fuel Economydue to Improvements in Ships Hull Surface Condition 1976-1986”,International Shipbuilding Progress, 33, (383), July 1986
Continuous surface polishing minimises dragthereby helping to maximise speed, increasefuel efficiency and save fuel costs. It is well known that there is a direct correlation betweenhull surface roughness and power/fuel requirements.Hulls generally get rougher over time and studies have shown that the average increase in hull surfaceroughness for traditional antifouling is double that of SPC technology 1. SPC technology, such as Micron 77,therefore can considerably reduce hull surface roughness.
In addition, a hull with a rough surface is also widelyregarded as having the same effect on fuel consumption(and/or loss of speed) to that of rough weather conditions– a renowned significant contributor to yacht fuel bills.
SPC technology, such as Micron 77, is also able todeliver successful antifouling performance for longer, in comparison to traditional CDP or Ablative antifoulings, via effective and controlled biocide release. The graphbelow shows the increase in fuel consumption over time of two identical vessels; one coated with SPCantifouling and the other with CDP antifouling.
