Compliance monitoring The Clean Energy Regulator monitors compliance with the NGER legislation to:

• determine levels of compliance and identify trends in behavior

• detect possible contraventions

• identify whether, and what type of, education and/or enforcement action may be required, and

• assess the effectiveness of its operations and programs, and identify opportunities for improvement.

Detecting non - complianceCompliance monitoring may occur through:

• checking of information provided in applications

• analysis of reported information

• analysis of information from other sources

• analysis of information obtained under the Regulator’s information gathering powers

• inspections, and

• audits
