MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT, Patricia Redmond, JD ’79 As we approach Homecoming Weekend, October 30th thru November 1st, the Law Alumni Association welcomes all of you back to the University of Miami School of Law. We have been busy this year improving our connections with all of you and with our soon to be Alumni, the current students. Our Coffee Connector Program is up and running and as a result, many students are benefitting from your knowledge and wisdom. It only takes a few minutes of your time to give a student a priceless opportunity.

The Law Alumni Association is starting a tour around the United States over the next nine (9) months. We will be in Chicago on October 10th and Washington, D.C., on October 24th. We are also in the process of scheduling stops in different parts of the country. If you have an interest in hosting an alumni event, please let me know and we will be there.

I hope you will consider attending our homecoming events. In these difficult times for our legal profession, it’s nice to be home.

Miami Law Dedicates the Hilarie Bass Bricks Reflecting on her days as a new Miami Law student, Hilarie Bass remembers the panic she felt over being called on in class, the dread of checking her grades, and the aha! moment when she withstood a withering drilling in her elements of law class and realized she really could be a trial lawyer. But best of all, the co-president of the global law firm Greenberg Traurig remembers the importance of the brick courtyard at the center of the School of Law where she and her classmates would gather daily to dissect what they were absorbing in the classroom. William Simonitsch, JD ’00, Named to the 2014 Lawyers of Color’s Third Annual Power List Miami Law alumnus William Simonitsch was recently honored and named to the 2014 Lawyers of Color’s Third Annual Power List, a comprehensive catalog of the nation’s most influential minority attorneys.
