Messenger the Trinity Baptist Church| March 2017 For the Journey … These are exciƟng days of God’s acƟvity and Kingdom purpose. Deacon SelecƟon and Safety Sunday will be on March 5 th at Trinity BapƟst Church. On this day, church members will have the privilege of nominaƟng up to three men, who are not currently serving as Deacons at TBC, to serve as Deacons. Our Deacon SelecƟon Task Force was organized two months ago and will be considering based upon the nominaƟons those to be presented to our church as Deacons. We have 64 godly and capable servants who faithfully serve Trinity BapƟst currently. Several of these men have asked to be moved to Emeritus status. An Emeritus Deacon is one who has faithfully served the church but in this season of life need to care for spouse or simply do not feel they can serve in the same capacity as in the past. We are blessed to have such great godly servants who have helped to establish Trinity in the past and are sƟll commiƩed to the Kingdom but with a different role. We also have several men, who are members of Trinity BapƟst, who have served in other churches as Deacons. They are eligible for nominaƟon if they have been a member of TBC for one year. Last Sunday we discussed the qualificaƟons of serving as a servant-leader. We were encouraged to pray for who God would place on our hearts to nominate. I have heard from several men who have been approached for nominaƟon and it is exciƟng to see the churches engagement in future leadership and service. Deacons are not the only ones who serve at Trinity but they do set the pace and example for us. Also on March 5 th our Adult Bible Study classes will also be meeƟng together to visit and discuss the safety of our church. We live in a day when we want to be prepared and not scared to gather. Mart Hanna and our Safety team will be assisƟng our classes as we make preparaƟons to be as safe a place as we can be when we gather to Worship, Connect, and Serve. I am looking forward to our next Family Gathering on April 23 rd where we will possibly have a group of men to present to the church as Deacons for our church. We are blessed and God’s blessing conƟnues to flow as He prepares us for what is to come. You will be hearing more about the movie coming out in April, “The Case for Christ.” I was privileged to view it at a pastor’s screening in San Antonio and it is an excellent presentaƟon of the gospel. I hope you will consider supporƟng the movie and also think about who you might take with you. The movie is the story of Lee Strobel and his walk toward faith from being an atheist to one of our strongest apologists defending the gospel today. Good things are coming our way. Thank you for being such a great part of it. In Christ, Youth Bible Study Middle and High School students meet on Wednes- days to discuss God's truth and how it affects our life. For the pre-teens/teenagers, we have “The Prince Warriors” trilogy, by Patricia Shirer. This series speaks about spiritual warfare, and the challenge to put on “the full armor of God”. We have several new books for the children, such as “How High is Hope”. Easter DVDs are here, for ALL ages. If you haven’t watched a VeggieTales movie lately, we’ve got a nice collection. For parents, we have the book “A Chicken’s Guide to Talking Turkey with your kids about Sex”. Just the title itself sounds interesting! We just got “The Boomer Burden”, a book about how to have ‘the talk’ with your parents, and what to do with their ‘stuff’ once they pass on. The new (or newly recycled) books are on the bookshelf near the door. Come see YOUR library.
