Visions of Hope
Communion
1st, 3rd and 5th Sundays
Billy Graham's daughter was interviewed on the Early Show and Jane Clayson asked her "How
could God let something like this happen?" (regarding the a=acks on September, 11,
hurricanes and earthquakes and recent shoo?ngs at our schools). Anne Graham gave an
extremely profound and insighAul response. She said "I believe God is deeply saddened by
this, just as we are, but for years we've been telling God to get out of our schools, to get out
of our government and to get out of our lives. And being the gentleman, He is, I believe He has
calmly backed out. How can we expect God to give us His blessing and His protec?on if we
demand He leave us alone?"
In light of recent events...terrorists a=ack, school shoo?ngs, etc. I think it started when
Madeleine Murray O'Hare (she was murdered, her body found recently) complained she
didn't want prayer in our schools, and we said OK. Then someone said you be=er not read the
Bible in school .... the Bible says thou shalt not kill, thou shalt not steal, and love your
neighbor as yourself. And we said OK. Then Dr. Benjamin Spock said we shouldn't spank our
children when they misbehave because their li=le personali?es would be warped and we
might damage their self-esteem (Dr. Spock's son commi=ed suicide). We said an expert should
know what he's talking about. And we said OK. Now we're asking ourselves why our children
have no conscience, why they don't know right from wrong, and why it doesn't bother them
to kill strangers, their classmates, and themselves.
Probably, if we think about it long and hard enough, we can figure it out. I think it has a great
deal to do with "WE REAP WHAT WE SOW." Funny how simple it is for people to trash God
and then wonder why the world's going to hell. Funny how we believe what the newspapers
say, but ques?on what the Bible says. Funny how you can send 'jokes' through e-mail and they
spread like wildfire but when you start sending messages regarding the Lord, people think
twice about sharing. Funny how lewd, crude, vulgar and obscene ar?cles pass freely through
cyberspace, but public discussion of God is suppressed in the school and workplace. Are you
laughing?
“Funny how we can be more worried about what other people think of us than what God
thinks of us. “So, if you choose to discard God from your life, don't sit back and complain
about what bad shape the world is in. Thank you and God bless you, and God bless our
country. Anne Graham
No Na?on or people can ever survive or succeed without Jesus Christ. Have we let Jesus Christ
become an aKerthought, something we a=ended to on Sunday morning but pushed down on
our priority list the rest of the week, behind our job, our recrea?on or even our family? These
are hard ques?ons to ask because we thought we were doing fine. We thought we were
obeying God to the best of our ability. Wouldn't a simple tap on the shoulder have been
sufficient, instead of the pain we're going through? Except we tend to shrug off taps on the
shoulder. It's likely we received several and ignored them. And if you are like me, some ?mes
God needs to hit me in the head with a big brick!! Most of the ?me it takes something truly
miserable to get our a=en?on and wake us up.
Invite Christ Jesus into your heart, your home and your life. He is wai?ng with open arms.
Your sister in Christ

We con?nue to collect items to make LWR Personal Care Kits (Health Kits). Try to put yourself in the
place of someone who needed to flee and now is in a refugee camp where people live in close
quarters and do not have access to toilet facili?es, clean water or health care. Disease preven?on
through hand washing can mean the difference between life and death. Just think what the fresh
scent of soap or soKness of a towel must mean! We will be collec?ng the following items:
Lightweight bath size towels (20”x 40” or 52”x 27”; Bath size bars of soap, any brand (NO mini or
hotel size bars); Adult-size toothbrushes; Sturdy, tough combs (NO picks or fine toothed combs);
metal nail clippers. We especially could use towels and soap for comple?ng some kits at this ?me.
Please leave items in the tote by the coffee area. Any ques?ons, please talk to Carol Anderson.
We have set up a new building fund,
it is called “New Worship Fund”.
If you would like to donate to this fund
please mark on your envelope
‘New Worship Fund’.
This is different from the building fund
so please specify.
Children’s Choir will be singing on Palm Sunday, March 25.
