Message from the Principal
Our Mission Statement
At Werris Creek Public School we ensure high levels of learning for all students.
Our staff believe that all students can excel, and they
willingly challenge and change their own practices to meet that
end.
Dear Parents and CarersYaama
What a busy and fantastic Term 3 we have had. We have seen many new
initiatives implemented at the school with some wonderful results. In
particular we have had a huge reduction in the number of negative
behaviour incidents at our school with more than 100 less negative
incidences recorded between last term and this term. Recognition must go to
our staff for the hard work and dedication they have put in to supporting our
students, the students themselves for rising to the high expectations we have
around behaviour and learning and to our parents and carers who have
supported these high expectations. It really does take a village to raise a child
and our children are the winners.
Term 4There is no Staff Development Day at the beginning of Term 4 so students will
return to school on Monday 14th October 2019. Staff have been having extra
professional learning sessions throughout the year and so both students and
staff will finish on Wednesday 18th December 2019.
Tell Them From Me Survey
Don’t forget about our parent survey. We really value your feedback through
these surveys as it helps inform us of our future directions.

New Break TimesTo better support the learning of our students here at Werris Creek
Public School, we are going to trial new break times during Term 4. We
have used current research and best practices from across the world
to develop these times. The benefits of extra break times include:
• It helps promote physical activity and fitness;
• It allows the brain to process memories and helping us make sense of what
we experience;
• It can be an effective way to reduce disruptive behavior;
• It can help reduce stress, improve focus and increase productivity.
