August | 2019 August 7th is National Purple Heart Day. We would like to recognize those on staff who are Purple Heart recipients. We honor you and thank your sacrifice and your continued service to help other Veterans with PTSD! Purple Heart Recipients on staff at PTSD Foundation of America MESSAGE FROM OUR DIRECTOR I will get straight to the point – we need your help. Over this past weekend something horrible happened in our beloved country as some 30 innocent lives were taken. It’s been all over the news and will continue to be plastered in front of us night and day. It was awful. It is awful. My heart hurts for family and friends left behind. Something else happened over the weekend, and will happen again today, and tomorrow, and the next day, and the day after that… We are still losing more than 20 Veterans every single day to their own hands in this country and you won’t find it on the evening news. You will see no outrage, you will see you no celebrities demanding something be done. It’s up to us. Will you introduce us to 3 of your friends? It is easy to click share on Facebook or retweet on Twitter, but we are asking to go a simple step further: send a note and invite them to join you in this great cause and let them know why you support or volunteer or share our story. This morning as I walked down our campus, I came across one of our residents. I stuck out my hand to shake his hand but he brushed right past my hand to give me a warm hug with a huge smile. He told me he had been at the VA and they were about to lock him up in the psych ward on the fifth try getting help. But someone there told him to check out Camp Hope. Today, he vowed to graduate from this residential program for combat related PTSD and go forward to find other Veterans who need this place. Will you join him in telling our story? Your voice is crucial as we endeavor to grow our outreach and support. Our request is simple, reach out to three friends through email or your social media and simply say, “I support / volunteer / share the story of The PTSD Foundation of America and Camp Hope because ____________________ (fill in the blank in 10 words or less).” You can. Will you? Then reply to this e-newsletter and letting us know you shared would be very helpful. We are grateful you are part of this team, working together to save lives and families!
