Hello Friends from Linda LamoureuxThe poet Robert Browning said, “The Best Is Yet To Be…” At a recent senior center Board meeting I was of-fered and gratefully accepted the position as your new Director. As a Board member here for many years I feel like I have an understanding of the needs of the senior center. More importantly I believe I understand the needs of today’s seniors. My experiences over the years volunteering on the Advisory Board for the Area Agency on Aging, the Elder Services Providers Network and working in The Arc’s Retirement Services Program have helped me to appre-ciate the unique needs of those of us referred to as “seniors!” In 2016 I was appointed to the Putnam Commis-sion on Aging. As a Commission our goal is to identify needed supports and services and provide advocacy for the seniors in our area.I look forward to working together with Tammy, Marcia, the volunteers and the QVSCC Board of Directors to help create a welcoming atmosphere here at the center. It is a wonderful place where you can come in to re-ceive support and help with paperwork, participate in a tasty meal, be entertained, join a group activity or just enjoy companionship and a cup of great coffee! I hope when you come in that you will introduce yourself and together we can make our center a wonderful place to enjoy! See you soon!

MEDICARE OPEN ENROLLMENT

OCTOBER 15THDECEMBER 7TH

It’s that time of year again when we start seeing a lot of publicity for the “Medicare Open Enrollment”. What does this mean? It is very im-

portant that you check the medications that you are on with your HMO, PPO and/or your Medicare Part D prescription drug plan to make sure that they are still going to be covered for 2018. The drug companies can change their formulary each year and may not cover certain drugs if they

become too expensive. If you need help in evaluating and comparing plans, or if you get anything in the mail that you don’t understand… call the center at 8607741243 to set up an appointment. We will let you

know at that time what you must bring with you and we will make sure you are all set for 2018.

Ellis Tech Luncheon

We are all looking forward to seeing and tasting what culinary

delights the chef and students have in store for us this holiday

month! Arrival at the school is 10:45 a.m. and the cost for

the luncheon is $10.00To attend the luncheon please call the senior center

office at 8607741243 A New Year Prayer

God, grant me the senility to forget the people I never liked anyway, The good for-tune to run into the ones that I do, And the

eyesight to tell the difference!
