NVHC to loseultrasound equipt.
The BC Liberal health authority isremoving ultrasound services from theMerritt Hospital, rather than using them toserve the Nicola Valley and surroundingregion. Local residents who helped pur-chase the equipment through fundraisingwill be forced to seek services inKamloops, Fraser Nicola MLAHarry Lali.
Merritt residents raised approxi-mately $150,000 for the purchase of theultrasound equipment. And nowInterior Health is relocating the unit to
Kamloops. The move will also affectpatients from smaller centres such asKeremeos, Cache Creek, Ashcroft,Princeton, Lytton, Lillooet.
IHA claims that it is shutting downthe ultrasound service because ofstaffing woes. But Harry Lali doesnt
buy it:The BC Liberals health authority
should be recruiting a full-time techni-cian to Merritt instead of relocating theunit to Kamloops, he said. To date,IHA has only advertised for a part-timeultrasound technician in Merritt, andnot a full-time position. And the NDPmaintains that this hiring strategy has
been undermining the Merritt program,as professionals are more likely to relo-cate if a full time post is available.
Letter to the editor
Good Samaritansstill exist!
This morning (Tuesday), a medicalemergency happened in our pharmacy. Iam writing to thank two customers who
jumped right in and helped in thisunfortunate situation. These two indi-viduals dropped what they were doingand helped where they could. BobbyLee Chenail, thank you for your jacketand for comforting the partner of theinjured. Brad Hagan, thank you for yourhelp from the beginning to the end, including driving the partner to the hos-pital to be with the individual.
Merritt, again you have proved that
we all pull together when needed.Everyday I see little acts of pay it for-ward, and in this case, I believe the twoof you will be blessed with riches.
Sincerely, Kelly Turchak, Pharmasave

Blonde Road RageA blonde had just gotten a new sports car and was out for a drive whenshe cut off a truck driver. He motioned for her to pull over to the side of the road. Whenshe did, he got out of his truck and pulled a piece of chalk from his pocket. He drew acircle on the road and told the blonde, "Stand in the circle and DON'T MOVE!" He thenwent to her car and cut up her leather seats. When he turned around, she had a slightgrin on her face, so he said, "Oh, you think that's funny? Watch this." He got a baseballbat out of his truck and broke every window in her car. When he turned and looked ather, she had a smile on her face. So he was really starting to get mad. He went and gothis knife back out and sliced up all her tires. The blonde started laughing and the truckdriver was really starting to lose it. He went back to his truck and got a can of gas, poured
