FINDING LOVE, JOY, & HOPE
Dear fellow Mercy family and friends,
3is past May I had the opportunity attend a silent retreat in Vado, New Mexico. 3is retreat center doubles as a community called 3e Lords Ranch, and is located on one square mile of desert land. 3e community serves groups and individuals on retreats as well as the poor, homeless, and hungry in the surrounding areas.
Most of us have heard of the old adage ‘silence is golden.’ 3ere is a distinct peace in the stillness of silence that is of the most soothing nature to refresh a soul and allow it a break; a breath; a moment to be. And all without the pressure from our fast-paced modern American society. 3e silence allows us to get a grip on our humanity, allowing ourselves to simply be - pressure coming from no where - and realizing that taking care of ourselves is essential to the work and vocations we are called to.
Working in ministry, I have found prayer and allowing God to love me especially true to re-fuel and refill for the sake of the work God is currently calling me to. We are called above all, to love. Hope and Love: I venture to say these are two things our world aches to know and hold on to
now more than ever. Fortunately for us, we can know these virtues in their fullness in the person of Jesus Christ. Where hope and love can be quite intimately known. Doubly fortunate for us, He resides in the deepest recesses of our soul - the recesses that envelop our entire being, and waits for us to take a moment to meet Him there so we can know this love and this hope. I want to encourage everyone to allow yourself a moment every day to give back to the one who woke you and gave you that day, who knows “well the plans he has for you, plans for your welfare and not for woe, plans to give you a future and a hope,” (Jer 29:11), and who desires you to live a life that is filled with the love, joy, and hope that is promised when we know Him. He waits for you in the silence and stillness of your heart. In this way,
Each of us can know and hold the words of Isaiah to be true ~ “see I am doing something new! Now it springs forth, don’t you perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the desert.” (Is 43:19).
May God abundantly bless you all,
Ms. Amelia Gallagher, Youth Minister, M.A.

Altar Flowers MemorialEach week you may honor a loved one with a giF of $150 to dedicate the floral arrangement that adorns our Sanctuary.
Memorial GiftsAt the death of a loved one, many choose in lieu of flowers to encourage friends and family to make a donation to a special charity or cause. Our Lady of Mercy has nourished the spiritual life of so many parishioners and those throughout the Diocese who come here. A Memorial GiF to our Traditions for Tomorrow Capital Campaign is a wonderful way to acknowledge the lives of our beloved dead with a giF of loving generosity to the church that has been such a spiritual home. Ms. Deanie Smith can discuss beautiful ways for you to remember your loved one.
Consider adding a planned gi. in your last will and testament to remember Our Lady of Mercy.

MAKE WAY FOR PLAY : Good bye Old Pre-KFriends, did you ride down Marquette Avenue since my last column? 8e six new, modular buildings that will house 12 classes of Blue jays are here. 8is week the fencing and landscaping will arrive making our “little village” a secure and beautiful addition to our campus.
Whether you have or have not checked on our daily progress - wait until you see what will happen this week. Beginning this Monday we are scheduled to remove the old Pre-K building to allow for the future home of our new outdoor learning and play center. 8anks be to God for His grace and your generosity.
8is week all of you who are partnering with our parish in this campaign should have received a statement in the mail updating you on our campaign totals. My letter to you should also detail our record of the arrangements you have made with our oMce. If you have questions or need to adjust your pledge at any time please contact the Finance Manager at the church oMce.
Please visit this TRADITIONS FOR TOMORROW page of “Mercy Alive” for weekly campaign updates, construction pictures and an accounting of how the campaign burse is being allocated. Ideas and questions are always welcome. 8is is our campaign for our church. Our clergy and lay ministry team are humbled by the generosity of those who have pledged and encourage everyone do something for this great work.
Our Lady of Mercy, pray for us!

A PRAYER FOR
PROTECTION DURING
HURRICANE SEASON
O God, Master of this passing world, hear the humble
voices of your children. Se Sea of Galilee obeyed Your
Son’s command, when He calmed the stormy waters
and delivered the disciples from fear and harm. During
this hurricane season, we turn to You, O
Loving Lord, for your Mercy is without end. Spare us
from tragedies like those of the past and keep us safe in
your loving care.
O Virgin Mother, Star of the Sea, we seek your powerful
help. Plead for us with Your Son that we might be
spared all harm, whether natural or made by human
hand, and walk safely in His footsteps until we reach
our heavenly home.
Our Lady of Prompt Succor, hasten to help us!

Heavenly Father,
In this year of Mercy, we are mindful of the love of your son, Jesus, poured out for us.
For more than 70 years, Our Lady of Mercy Parish has been a spiritual home to your people.
A place of forgiveness and healing;
A place of silent prayer and joyful celebration;
A treasure of sacramental life and grace.
Orough the intercession of Our Lady, whose presence is so strongly felt in this holy place,
Renew your life in us;
Increase our faith and trust;
Bless the works of our hands and the Traditions for Tomorrow;
Let us not be content with eTorts of the past but lead us with your Spirit
to serve the generations to come;
Open our hearts to give generously of ourselves and our resources
to provide for the needs of the future;
Renew us from within; and
Give us generous hearts.
We ask this through Christ Our Lord.
AMEN
Our Lady of Mercy, pray for us
