INTRODUCTION

Within this booklet we, Mercury F1, wish to offer you the opportunity to supportthe leaders of tomorrow in science, innovation, engineering, and business.

We wish to outline the sponsorship plans through which you can support ourteam. With the 2017 F1 in Schools World Championships approaching, we continueto innovate and push the boundaries in everything that we do.

THE FORMULA 1 IN SCHOOLS CHALLENGE

The F1 In Schools Challenge is an international multi-disciplinary initiative aimed at promoting the STEM subjectsin schools – Science, Technology, Engineering andMathematics.

It is the world’s largest and most successful school-basedSTEM initiative, with a staggering reach of 40 countries and20 million students globally.

This initiative is aimed at engaging and challenging highschool students as well as introducing them to the possibilitiesof careers in engineering, marketing and project management.

The competition entails the designing, engineering andmanufacturing of a model Formula 1 car to be propelled bypressurized gas.

The challenge is also inclusive of an enterprise aspect in whichteams have to do their own fundraising, acquire their ownsponsorship, manage their own funds and develop and markettheir own brand.

WHO ARE WE?Mercury F1 is comprised of five students from Fourways High School, ranging fromthe ages of fifteen to seventeen years.

The Team consists of passionate, driven and pioneering learners who were chosen owing to their proficiency in their respective, particular fields.

Mercury F1 was amongst the first teams to participate in the re-launch of the F1 In Schools Challenge in South Africa in 2016.

A clear and defined idea of where we want to be within specific time frames as well as overall in the competition. This creates a sense of focus, discipline and determination. Having measurable, realistic, yet challenging goals allows us to track our progress as well as the ability to adapt and adopt different strategies to optimize our performance.

New, ambitious and inventive ways to optimize efficiency in both the design and enterprise divisions in order to maximize our chances of success on the international platform. This includes optimizing our sponsors’ return on investment through leading-edge strategies.

ADVERTISING AND MARKETING RETURNS VALUES

Our estimates below of media coverage are based on figures provided by Sangari Education’s media relations company, Charles Smith and Associates (CSA), which has been operational for 30 years. CSA will do the marketing for the event and will include the Gaia Sponsor in the marketing material. The required sponsorship amount is R200 000 and below is the estimated value of media coverage that the Sponsor is expected to achieve, the total given as R675 000 is a conservative figure. It could realistically be closer to R1 million:

• A Jupiter Sponsor (requires an investment of R 50 000) will be entitled to use all the material and content generated by CSA for their own purposes on their own website, social media platforms and in the press (TV, Radio, Print, Online). CSA will provide assistance with these platforms should the sponsor require advice on issuing press releases and posting Social Media content.
