FOREWORD

The idea of publishing a Memograph by the 500level students of the Federal University of Technology, Akure is a noble one. This indigenous idea is a trailer blazer in the annals of the University as no set of our past graduating students have thought of this credible year book that promises to refresh the memory and serve as a reference point for not only the student in this set, but also members of the University in general.

The benefits that can be derived from the Memograph are innumerable because it contains the data of 2014/2015 set who are presently in 500level in the University. Besides the fact that it will foster unity amongst the students, it will be of a tremendous benefit to those who have the need to get in touch with any member of the set at any point in time. Largely, it is going to be a reference point for all.

The plausible idea is an attempt at a graphic documentation of facts about the 2014/2015 set which will effectively nullify any attempt by fraudulent/dubious individuals to falsify facts about their attendance of the University in future. I sincerely believe that Memograph, in no small way, will help the students in the University to keep contact with one another now and in future. As such, I make bold to say that it is a must have by every member of the University.

WELCOME: MEMOGRAPH COMMENCEMENT

Being together has its essence and usefulness: it's for unity, for strength and for progress. FUTA is ever proud of its

students and alumni – they continue to bring glory and honor to the institution; we value creating a bond among all,

and will continue to work to establish links between students and alumni throughout the world.

The idea of this 'Memograph' originated from students on the verge of transiting to alumni, who felt a need to create

something to fill the gap existing among young alumni. Young alumni leave their Alma Mater in search of a utopia.

In the process of the search they lose some of the friends they made in the struggle for university accolade; some of

these often happen to be their best friends. By the time they become established in their chosen fields and feel a need

to reconnect, the friends cannot be traced. As young alumni, the Alumni Association is usually felt to belong to old

alums rather than for struggling 'newbes'. In order to fill this gap therefore, a team of young alumni-to-be came up

with the idea of creating something that all can be proud of, but also that serves as a link for connecting, for a long

time. When all this matures the 'Memograph' will be updated annually and will be linked to the Alumni database of

the FUTA Advancement Centre and that of the Alumni Association. Thereafter, no alum will ever again lose contact

with a mate, a friend, a colleague or an acquaintance; all can update their details as time and fortunate take them

around the world of work and career.

It is proper to acknowledge the creativity of the team of initiators of this project and commend them for their

industry and resilience. But that is in furtherance of the FUTA motto: 'Technology for Self-Reliance'. One of the

Advancement Centre's main objectives is to create, broaden and strengthen our alumni database, so that we can

keep you up to date with exciting developments at FUTA. We will together continue to grow this network and in few

years all alumni can be reunited and interact as in the days of old. We are indeed proud of this initiative and the

students who worked on the project. We are certain the project will succeed and project the image of FUTA and its

alums to the end of the world.

We welcome whole heartedly this project and commend it to all sets of graduating students – our young FUTA

Alumni-to-be. We wish you all best of luck in your endeavors! Your Alma Mater looks forward to welcoming you

back.

ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

We love the very idea of preserving moments for the purpose of reliving it in the future and other benefits attached to it; that's what the Memograph™ brand stands for but the project of this enormity couldn't have been done without support and help from several persons both in key positions and passers-by (yes, it happened!) to them we owe earnest gratitude.

We specially want to acknowledge the fatherly role, guidance and support of Prof. Peter Aborisade and his team at the University Advancement Centre, Federal University of Technology, Akure. You were really an inspiration when all seemed dark.

We also love to appreciate the immediate past Director of the Centre for Entrepreneurship (CENT), FUTA – Engr. Ayo Ajayi – for his expertise and in-depth analysis at the start of the project, we love you.Special thanks also goes to Prof. B. K. Alese, the Dean of Students, Federal University of Technology, Akure for giving the go-ahead on the project after considering it and reckoned it to be of immense benefit to his students.

Our heartfelt gratitude goes to the Branch Manager of First Bank, FUTA branch – Mrs Nike Olawale – for her motherly encouragement and support. You rock ma! And also an earnest appreciation to Ayo Akinwande; CEO, Flashing Halos™ photography, Omololu Omolayo; CEO, Clix City Photography, we can indeed say you are one of the best in the country for such quality on large quantity and for enduring the stress. You can't get more professional than that.

Sincere gratitude goes to the class representatives that helped us on short notice and long notice during profile collection and class photographs; we truly couldn't have done it without you. To everyone, students and staff alike, that we may not have mentioned here. We are truly indebted to you and we thank you. Finally, to the Memograph team (#PENCILS); you did what a lot of people have found to be difficult and somewhat impossible in combining academic work, project work, fellowship commitments and other commitments including the several meetings it took us to complete this project. You endured so much, and indeed have written history as clear and as graphical as possible, yours is the world for the taking. Thank you.
