Numerical Methods Summer Course at RMIT - 2013 ¡  Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT) and Tecnológico de Monterrey Campus Ciudad de

México (ITESM CCM) announce their Joint International Summer Course 2013 “M2025 - Numerical Methods in Engineering”, to be held at RMIT in Melbourne, Australia, from June 29 to July 14 2013. This 48 hours academic-content course will be taught jointly by top RMIT and ITESM Professors, imparted to RMIT and ITESM students simultaneously. ITESM students will be officially enrolled at RMIT and will receive an official RMIT transcript which can also be fully credited for ITESM’s course M2025. A detailed calendar of activities is shown below.

¡  **Total cost is $1900 USD (subject to minor variations due to fluctuations between AUS/US Dollars), which includes course fees, two weeks’ homestay accommodation nearby RMIT (bed and breakfast) and non-academic program (Airport pick up with Skybus, Myki travel card, City tour, Scienceworks entry, Welcome lunch, Farewell lunch, Alumni presentations, Company visits). Not included is round flight to Melbourne, which shall be covered and arranged by each participant.

¡  **Applications for enrolment will be received beginning March 1st 2013 (see requirements below). Students from all ITESM’s Campi are welcome to apply. Maximum group size to be kept at 25.

¡  **All Mexican applicants are responsible for having Official Immigration documents with validity throughout the whole international stay (Mexican Passport and Australian Tourist Visa). Australian Student Visa is not required.

Includes ¡  Free 3-day MATLAB & MATHEMATICA Short Course

¡  MATLAB & MATHEMATICA will be used throughout the course for programming exercises, homework and projects. For those students without this background, a free 3-day short course will be offered at ITESM CCM covering the basics of both software, from June 25 to June 27 2013 (that is, just before departing to Melbourne). This course will be simultaneously imparted via elluminate for those not attending personally (recommended only if you already have basic programming skills in these platforms).

¡  Accommodation - Homestay

¡  Single room homestay accommodation will be organised by RMIT. Homestay includes three meals per day. Homestay accommodation provides the opportunity to experience a new and different lifestyle. Our provider prides itself on using homestay families that meet high standards. This not only includes the ‘bricks and mortar’ aspect but also a caring environment within the home. Experienced homestay families enjoy interacting with different cultures and helping students learn more about Australia. All homes are within easy commute of RMIT campus and all our host families have been visited and have current working with children cards and police checks.

¡  Non-academic Program

¡  In addition to 48 hours of academic content, delivered over approximately fourteen lectures by RMIT and ITESM academic staff, an extra-curricular program will be offered that includes:

¡  Pairing with local students

¡  Two professional English workshops

¡  Two company visits

¡  City tour

¡  Excursion day

¡  Informal dinner with RMIT students

Enrolment Requirements ¡  Applications for enrolment will begin March 1st, 2013 . Students from all

ITESM’s Campus are welcome to apply. Maximum group size to be kept at 25.

¡  ITESM’s Students from any Campus should be postulated by their Program Director (Director de Carrera), via email to [email protected], confirming that the student is eligible to take this course under ITESM’s current academic requirements, has a minimum total academic average of 85 up to the previously finished term, a minimum TOEFL=520 and good command of English in general, excellent academic record, high motivation, and any other skill relevant to this course (MATLAB & MATHEMATICA Programming skills is a welcome asset). Above all, the Program Director should state very clearly that the student possesses the maturity and good behaviour required to stay out of trouble during an international stay. Acceptance will be communicated to the Program Director via email a few days after receiving application. Accepted students will be given instructions for payment, which must be done within one week of acceptance in order to ensure enrolment.
