This is me with my husband Chad.

We’ve been married for 9.5 years!!

We have 3 nieces and 2 nephews!

I live in Ovid, Colorado.• Ovid is in the northeast corner of

Colorado.• Ovid is about 2 miles from the

Nebraska border.• Ovid has around 350 citizens.• I graduated from Ovid, Revere High

School in 1984.• I got married on the football field at the

high school!

I teach at P.V.E.!Platte Valley Elementary is located in Sedgwick, Colorado.

We are a K-6 school.

We have approximately 75 students.

We only go to school 4 days a week!! Monday is our “off” day.

In 2009-10, I only had 6 students in my first grade class. They were all girls!!!!

I currently have 10 students: 5 girls and 5 boys!

Why take this course?• to improve teaching skills that enable me to

better reach all of my students • to expand my opportunities in the field of special

education • to gain the opportunity to work with children with

special needs outside of the regular classroom • to acquire knowledge to identify and help at-risk

students early on in their education • to gain more techniques, skills and knowledge in

my teaching • to earn a master’s degree in special education

Where Am I At in the UCCS Program?

Last semester I completed my student teaching.This is my last class before obtaining my

master’s degree in special education.

Concerns or Interests in Special Education:Student’s needs not being met.Helping students deal with challenges.Increased number of students with less staff and money for services.
