2�1 ResponsibilitiesOur devices are quality controlled and tested at the factory in accor dance with the standards and the regulations currently in force.Apparatus efficiency and apparatus life depend on the compliance with the installation, commissioning and operation instructions described in this user manual. 2�2 Eco-design concept and revalorisation of the materials usedThe design and manufacture of our packaging are both in conformity with the French government decree N° 98-638 of 20 July 1998, concerning the account that is taken of environmental requirements.

2�3 Normal service conditions (in accordance with IEC 60694)Permissible ambient temperatureThe ambient air temperature should be comprised between - 5°C and + 40° C.The mean measured value for a 24 hour period must not exceed 35°C.Installation altitudeHV equipment are defined in accor dance with European Standards and can be used up to an altitude of 1,000 m.Beyond this, account must be taken of the decrease in dielectric withstand.For these specific cases, contact the Schneider Electric Sales Department

Atmospheric pollutionThe ambient air must not contain any dust particles, fumes or smoke,corrosive or flammable gases, vapours or salts.Permissible atmospheric humidity levelThe average atmospheric relative humidity level measured over a 24-hour period must not exceed 95%.The average water vapour pressure over a period of 24 hours must notexceed 22 mbar.The average atmospheric relative humidity value measured over a period of one month must not exceed 90 %..The average water vapour pressure over a period of one month must not exceed 18 mbar.Condensation may appear in case of any sharp variation in temperature, due to excessive ventilation, a high atmospheric humidity level or the presence of hot air. This condensation can be avoided by an appropriate lay-out of the room or of the building (suitably adapted ventilation, air driers, heating etc.).

3�1 DescriptionThe PIX metal-clad switchboard was designed so that all operating components are accessible from the front panel.The Functional Unit is divided into 4 compartments: Cables; Moving Parts; Busbar and Low Voltage Switchboard. They are separated by metal partitions.The cable, moving parts and bus bar compartments are all equipped with gas exhaust valves in case of any internal arcing.The phases are colour coded, and marked with the first letter of eachcolour: Red - Yellow - Blue.The main busbar is completely insulated.

4 Packaging - Handling - Storage

4�1 Transport - DeliveryThe conditions and methods of transport are defined with the customer, at the time of processing the contract. The packaging depends on the transport conditions, storage and thenature of the product transported.Functional units of 650 mm in width are delivered in a vertical position with the moving parts locked into their ̀ withdrawn/test' position within the compartment.The wiring sheaths are supplied in separate packaging.

Functional Units with a width of 1,000 mm and their moving parts are delivered in a vertical position, in separate packaging.

4�2 Functional Unit Packaging ■ The packaging of a Functional Unit for road and rail transport:

□ fixed onto wooden stringers, □ enveloped in plastic stretch wrapping, □ protection of the front facing panel by expanded polystyrene.

■ The packaging of a Functional Unit for air and maritime transport: □ under a heat-sealed cover with bags of desiccant, □ enclosed in a wooden case.

■ Status of the equipment on delivery: □ Earthing switch closed, □ circuit breaker strapped and "tripped", and in its "unplugged/test"

position, □ Mechanical control "released".

4�3 Packaging and handling of the HVX moving partRefer to the circuit breaker's technical manual (see § 2.4).

In order to lift or deposit the moving part on the handling table, lifting equipment will be required (not supplied by Schneider Electric).

4�4 The accessories packContains all elements required for the assembly of Functional Units,including busbar and cable connections.

4�5 Reception/Acceptance ■ Ensure that the material delivered is complete (list enclosed with the

accessories). ■ Carry out a visual inspection of the Functional Units and moving parts.

In the event of an anomaly, inform and make the necessary reserves with the transporter.

The Functional Unit must remain vertical on its base, within its original packaging, during any eventual storage period and until it arrives at the location of its installation.

4�6 Handling of the Functional Unit and the moving part

■ Road and Rail packaging (900 kg max.): using a fork lift truck. ■ It is imperative that the forks of the truck are fully engaged across the

entire width of the Functional Unit

■ Air and maritime transport packaging: Depending on the weight indicated on the crate.

■ It is imperative that the forks of the truck are fully engaged throughout the entire width of the crate.

■ Pass 2 slings, each one supporting 1,000 kg under the crate from one side of the crossbeams to the other.

■ The weight of each crate is indicated on its side.min. 1m

■ Never tip the crates over.

■ Never handle the circuit breaker by its connecting plates.

■ Never lift up a circuit breaker by lifting it by its chassis or trolley.

In order to remove or fit the moving part on the handling table, a lifting device is required (not supplied by Schneider Electric).

Never put the circuit breaker directly on the ground. Put systematically 2 stringers (30x30mm) under the chassis.

4�7 StorageThe site chosen for storage must be capable of protecting the materialagainst possible damage due to:

■ Water ■ Water vapour ■ Saline atmosphere ■ All types of pollution ■ Micro-organisms.

Contact Schneider Electric for any derogations to these criteria

Ensure that the material is suitably packaged for the requirements of the planned storage period.Avoid leaving the material where it is likely to be subjected to large, sudden temperature changes.Ensure that there are no corrosive vapours present, for example sulphur dioxide (SO2).

5�1 Type of Civil EngineeringThe installation of a switchboard requires a sufficiently flat and even concrete structure. The dressing of a top coat of cement using a ruleshould eliminate any surface irregularities greater than 2 mm per metre. A layout on iron supports for levelling off is ideal as they will also serve as a guide for the adjustment of the cement top coat.The overall flatness of the support surface should not show up any deflection greater than 6 mm throughout the length of the switch board.

5�2 Unpacking the Functional UnitsUnpacking the Functional Units is only to be carried out on the installation site itself.Tools required:

■ Cutter for road and rail transport packaging ■ Crowbar for air and sea transport packaging

For all handling operations it is advisable that you use suitable protectivegloves.To remove the stringers, remove the foam mousse from the panels then dismantle the cable compartment panel.Dispose of the packaging waste (wood, polystyrene) via the appropriate recycling channels.Before handling and ̀ end of row' functional unit, remove its far end side panel.

5.3 Identification of the Functional UnitCheck the technical characteristics shown on the rating plate, in comparison with the initial order.Information taken from this plate is needed for all contact with Schneider Electric.Other identification may be given, in accordance with the particularspecifications on the contracts.

5�4 Handling the Functional Unit ■ Four fixed slinging points are provided for on the roof of each functional

unit.

■ Lift the Functional Unit by 4 slings each one capable of supporting 1,000 kg.. ■ Respect the minimum carrying height as shown on the above diagram.

■ Slide the Functional Unit along, using three cylindrical rollers of 30 mm min. diameter.

■ Thus moving it to its final installation place.

5�5 Handling the moving part for placing it on the ground

Never put the circuit breaker directly on the ground. Put systematically 2 stringers (30x30mm) under the chassis.

■ Use a protected steel cable, with a diameter of 12 to 15 mm, or a strap.The lifting system must dimensioned inaccordance with the weight ofthe circuit breaker.

■ On the ground, prepare 2 stringers that will be aligned with the outer edges of the truck.

5�6 Installation on the groundThe limits of the civil engineering layout depends on the type and quantity of materials to be installed.Respect the layout and distances given in the single line drawing for the sub-station switchboard.Position the Functional Units whilst respecting minimum clearance distances in front of, behind and to each side of the switchboard.

12�5 Voltage presence testing (VPIS indicators)The indication of "voltage presence" is ensured in conformity with the provisions of IEC61958 within the range of service voltage defined on the label (3).

To each of the 3 phases R, Y & B (1) there is a corresponding flashing indicator (2).

A connection point (4), for each phase, is accessible on the front face of the luminous indicator in order to connect the phase comparator.

The indication of a VPIS, by itself, is insufficient to ensure that the system is de-energized: if the operating rules demand it, then the appropriate voltage detectors must be used to that effect, in compliance with IEC61243-5.

12�6 Energising the "Incoming" Functional UnitEnergize the cables.In the case of a VPIS (IEC61958) type voltage presence , check that the luminous indicators are flashing.Energise the busbar. To do this, plug-in and close the circuit breaker (See § 8.1 & 9.3).

16�2 Safety instructionsDo not dismantle the mechanical control mechanism springs without the releasing device.
