1920s – White Zombie

Narrative- A young man turns to a witch doctor to lure the woman he loves away from her fiancé, but instead turns her into a zombie slave.

Iconography- Many common props were used in this film like, knives, guns, coffin and was set in a graveyard.

Characters- The main characters in this film are, Madeleine who is the fiancé of Neil parker. There are both protagonist and antagonists in this film.

Setting- It is set in America in a church and outside in a graveyard. It is set mainly at night to add to the theme of horror.

Style- The style of this film is black and white and uses both diegetic and non diegetic sounds the diegetic sounds are the sounds of screaming and objects and background sounds. The non diegetic is the male voice over.

1950s – Teenage Zombies

Narrative- A group of teenagers found themselves trapped on an island run by a mad scientist who intends to run everyone in America by turning them into Zombies.

Iconography- Cages were used in this film as well as equipment found in a science lab like test tubes, experimental tables etc.

Characters- The main characters are the teenagers: Reg, Skip, Julie, Pam and the scientist Myra

Setting- It was set in the prison cages in the science lavatory which were being held on an island in America.

Style- Although the film is in black and white is it shown in mainly a darker light to add to the sense of mystery and horror.

1980s – Night of the Zombies

Narrative- There is an investigation concerning two soldiers who have gone missing, later 2 bodies are found by the CIA, There are roomers that zombies may be around.

Iconography- Common props are used to portray the soldiers like, helmets, guns, bombs, blood etc.

Characters- The protagonists in this film would be the investigators and the soldiers who have gone missing and the antagonist would be the zombies in the film.

Setting- The film starts off in a small town and the gradually moves on to New Guinea jungle.

Style- The film is in normal coloring.

2000s – 28 Days Later

Narrative- Four weeks after a mysterious, incurable virus spreads throughout the UK, a handful of survivors try to find sanctuary.

Iconography- Fire, blood, guns, equipment from the science lab in the beginning.

Characters- The main character is Jim who wakes up in a hospital/science lab and realizes what has happened and the city is completely deserted of people.

Setting- It is set in the city of London.

Style- It is in normal HD coloring and has a higher budget so better equipment was used for the lighting, cameras used etc.
