Media Release October 12, 2011 BABY HEROES DIAPER DRIVE TERRA CENTRE ANNOUNCES PUBLIC CAMPAIGN WITH THE DIAPER DASH Edmonton, AB – Terra Centre for Pregnant and Parenting Teens launched BABY HEROES 2011, the 3 RD annual public diaper, with the Diaper Dash for the Baby Heroes Cup, furnished by Diaper Cake Designer Sushma Dalal, today at City Hall. BABY HEROES 2011 public diaper drive takes place October 12 – 29, 2011. Terra Centre hopes to raise xxx diapers, or cash equivalent, during the campaign. The Diaper Dash featured supporters of the Baby Heroes campaign, including members of flagship corporate teams: Team Diapers on Wheels, lead by EdmontonCalder MLA Doug Elniski and comprised of crossparty politicos, and the joint REALTORS® Community Foundation / Alberta Mortgage Brokers Association Team. Corporate, Community and School teams, along with public donations, have helped Terra Centre collect more than 225,000 diapers over the past two years. In addition to collecting much needed diapers for Terra clients, Baby Heroes is an important awareness opportunity highlighting the challenges teen parents face, their potential and the important role community plays in ensuring their success. Terra Centre for pregnant and parenting teens has served youth in Edmonton since 1971; each year approximately 600 young families access its teenage pregnancy support services. Terra is committed to supporting teen parents from pregnancy until their child enters school, followed by an engaging and active alumni group that continue to support one another in parenting. Cash and diaper donations can be dropped off at Terra Centre, 9930106 Street, Monday – Friday, 8:30 am – 5 pm, and at two evening Open Houses, October xx and xx from 5:00 pm – 9:00 pm. Terra Centre encourages both diaper and cash donations and uses a $1 = 5 diaper formula for tallying total pledges for both individuals and teams.
