Task 3: Three completely different ideas for a music video, from Different tracks and different bands or artist.

Narrative. This is a story about a man who gains consciousness but has no recollection of how he has ended up where he is. The video follows him trying to piece together the chain of events leading up to him being locked in a glass tank, which is slowly filling up with water. The film takes viewers on a journey that follows the man’s mind as he has flashbacks of events and gradually remembers what has happened over the preceding 24 hours.

Stylist Element. The track that I want to use is called Waves by Mr Probz! The lyrics of the track describe a man who is drowning, and give the listener an insight into his thoughts he realizes his predicament. The video follows these disjointed thoughts, and describes the initial feelings anguish of someone who is fighting to stay alive, to a subconscious realization that he is about to die, and an acceptance that there is nothing that he can do to prevent it.

Inspiration / Idea. The track / song has two different beats, one much slower than the other. My idea is to match slow motion video to the slower elements of the track. I recall seeing this idea being put into effect in another music video called “The Pursuit of Happiness” by Kid Cudi when everything that the artist does is in real time while all around him is in slow motion. To portray the scene of the man drowning, I recall seeing some incredible underwater photography in another music video called ‘All of me by John Legend’. Although this video shows and man in a pool, it nonetheless helped me come up with the idea of a man trapped a water tank.
