This represents the documentary feel of the film, enticing the audience as it makes the film more believable. This is what we aim our trailer to do.

The use of photoshop here increases the scare factor of the film poster.

AnchoragePictures rarely appear without some text, (whether spoken or written),which serves to establish or anchor an interpretation. In a newspaper, sub editors will apply headlines or captions to a photograph; in a documentary, a voiceover may serve a similar function.

Intertextual referencesUsually a visual or verbal reference to other media in the text. In this case it is through a web address.

Close up image of the subject adds to the thriller theme of the movie. Reinforces the idea that the purpose of this film is to scare the audience, used as entertainment rather than to educate.

The mise en scene in the film poster such as the shackles around the subjects ankles creates the feel of the film.

TARGET AUDIENCE

The colour scheme is kept simple yet still effective. The colours work well together, and the red with connotations of violence, blood etc works well with the genre of this film.

The cloak and the mask represent mystery, unknown, such is the killer in this film. Cloaks generally connote evil, mischievous behaviour etc.

The subject of this image is not facing the audience, perhaps suggesting that the tone of this film/poster is very hostile, adding to the fact that the subject looks like they are being held hostage.

As the background colours are black, white and grey, this causes the main subject of the poster to stand out, with the vibrant scarlet cloak.

The fairy tale –like font contrasts with the image displayed.

The female here appears to have the upper hand, which contrasts with societies view of women. The are usually portrayed as the weak victim. This could work as a social comment.
