Qatar Charity (QC) is a Doha based International non-government organization,established in the state of Qatar 30 years back to sustain the needy communities
in and out of Qatar. Qatar charity is working in Pakistan since 1992 having itscountry office in Islamabad and field offices in Leepa, Bagh, Muzaffarabad in AJK;Swat, Dir in KPK; Rajanpur, DG Khan, Multan in Southern Punjab. In addition tothese field offices, QC operates using a network of partner organizations all overPakistan.
In Pakistan, QC is mainly working in the following thematic areas; DisasterManagement, Sustainable Livelihoods, Water and Sanitation, Education & CulturalSupport, Social Protection, Primary Health Care and Community PhysicalInfrastructure.
Job Details:Position: Media & Communication Officer
Report To: Country DirectorLocation: Islamabad with extensive visits to the field.Main Purpose of Job
To promote QCs activities as well as to communicate the organizations beliefs toDonors, Media Press, Media Broadcast, Media Web, Members of the Public via arange of approaches including the development of media materials, fundraisingmaterials, participating in seminars, conferences, forums and media events. The
incumbent is supposed to compile QC Annual Reports and other printingmaterials and to contribute in developing QC media strategy.
Key Result Areas
The Media & Communication Officer is responsible for promoting the publicimage of the
Organization by providing information and facts about the Organization todonors, the public and the media.
She/he will be responsible for developing and enhancing media relationsthroughout
the Country in order to provide a consistent response to poverty issues.
She/he will be responsible to develop and enhance internal and externalcommunication in effective manners
Main Tasks & Responsibilities
To draw, implement and maintain media relations guidelines, policy andprocedure

within the Organization and to communicate the guidelines, policy &procedure to different departments and offices,
To develop a media plan for QC in conjunction with the Heads ofDepartments and offices.
To promote the image of QC to media groups via national "awareness"
campaigns. To initiate, develop, monitor and maintain local, national and internationalmedia and
public contacts for disseminating information and to provide a consistentand immediate response to media requests and international events.
To research and write news/press releases
To coordinate ceremonies, press conferences and plan and host specialmedia and public
events nationally and other events or special projects.
To serve as QCs spokesperson in crisis situations and to coordinate withprofessional
contacts
To represent officials at community meetings, media interviews, theOrganization meetings at local and national functions
To interpret QC programs for the media and the public, including technicalareas,
To oversee QCs use of advertising and public relations.
To oversee the promotion and distribution of public awareness campaignmaterials and
information
To handle all the communication tasks including internal and external and
to buildbridges with organizations, partners, donors and all stakeholders.
To plan and direct advertising, public relations, and promotional campaignsand
strategies.
To oversee the production of printed publications. To write materials for theinformational materials such as newsletters, bulletins, pamphlets,directories, and posters.
To research materials for and write speeches and position papers onselected topics for
the organization officials.
To arrange interviews for and regularly brief QC officials on sensitive and/orcontroversial
issues; to recommend public relations course of action in crisis and inroutine public relations situations.
To identify potential public relations problems and to advise QC officials ofappropriate

preventive actions.
To coordinate and produce annual reports and other materials in a timelymanner.
To visit QC Field Offices to improve and update production.
Record keeping of all the events organized, press releases etc To develop the fundraising material for targeted individual donors.
To help programme team in PR with institutional donors.
Expected Performance Standard
Efficient to represent as spokesman at different platforms.
Efficient to develop ideas for promotion of organization
Effective bridging of gaps between QC and other stakeholders.
Good researcher and speaker
Keen to identify the problems of public relation and to rectify it
Average Percentage of Performance Standard Required
Ensure necessary steps regarding building of the organizations reputationin timely
manner.
Produce effective and summarized reports as and when required.
Qualification, Knowledge and other Special Skills
Masters in Mass Communication
Communication skills.
Knowledge of current affairs
Knowledge of marketing and media Knowledge of impression management
Knowledge of English and Urdu
Knowledge of Arabic is a plus point
Sociable in nature
Basic computer skills
Familiar with both the humanitarian and development sectors.
