The meals of the day

French people love eating !

We love food and we enjoy cooking !

Breakfast

In the morning, we have breakfast.

We sometimes drink orange juice .

But we prefer hot drinks such as cocoa, coffee and tea.

Most of us have French bread ( baguette) with butter, chocolate spread « Nutella », jam, cereals.

Lunch First, there is a starter : pâté, eggs, mixed salads, raw vegetables…

Then, a main course that includes meat or fish and cooked vegetables.

Then, we have cheese .

Finally, dessert : fruit, yoghurt, pudding or a

cake (on Sundays).

FridaysOn Fridays, we traditionally eat fish because Jesus was

crucified on a Friday and, therefore, eating « flesh » was forbidden.

Of course, things are changing as people are less religious nowadays and school dinners have to conform to

secularism in our country.

5 o'clock tea

After school , we have a snack :

we love bread with Nutella spread (chocolate cream

and hazelnuts )

Dinner

In the evening, we often eat home made soup;

We mix mashed vegetables : carrots, potatoes, leeks, onions,parsnips etc …

For dinner, we also eat pizza and quiche Lorraine with salad.

Quiche : a French Favourite !

You need : - a roll of dough - 3 eggs - 250 g cream - 150 g bacon - Nutmeg, salt and pepper

Preheat oven to 200 ° C

Place the dough in a pie dish, prick the bottom with a fork.

Mix the beaten eggs and cream.

Fry the bacon.

Add the bacon to the egg mixture with salt, pepper, grated nutmeg .

Pour over the dough. You can spread grated cheese on top.

Bake for 30 min.

In the summer

Chicken, sausages, pork or lamb chops

hamburgers, beef steak

We often eat salads and barbecue.

To give a little more flavor to our meat, we eat it with sauces like : Ketchup, Mayonnaise, Tartare, Béarnaise. Vinaigrette is for salads.

Recipe n° 2: Vinaigrette

40 cl olive oil 20 cl red wine vinegar 20 cl water (optional) 20 cl strong mustard 1 tablespoon salt 1 tablespoon pepper

To save time, I prepare the vinaigrette pouring all the ingredients into the blender graduated jar :

No need to measure, just pour and stir !
