Felicity Topp MDE 401: 90 MDE 402: 90 MDE 403: 90 I must totally commend you on how you have let your process shape the outcomes that you have delivered. It is very clear in your submission that while you have started out thinking your work/solutions would become resolved in a certain direction, you have had the design sense to let it morph into what are much more productive and innovative areas of inquiry. The scenarios you propose are refreshing, with the right mix of resolution and possibility. Your sketches are extremely helpful in terms of exploring and communicating your ideas. I also like how you organised your scenarios into two distinct categories, and also how you rejected a number of earlier scenarios as you could see that they werenʼt working. The two projects you identified worthy of further development both have merit. I really like the Barrow Boy for its clarity. I think it would be a very interesting project to refine this concept into a commercial outcome. That said the second concept relating to mist rooms, while being a little less resolved, has the potential to be developed in a number of very diverse ways. The context visualisations and the different operational analyses are very rich in terms of clarity and insight. As well as showing your findings they are also presented in such a way as to enable others to engage with and develop from your findings. The Rooftop Gardening Audacious pitch gives another dimension to your design work. It emphasises a strategic direction to your whole gardening/food theme. Again, you have done well to communicate this plausibly and succinctly, without the potential of the project being deadened. It is obvious that the MDE programme is starting to come together for you. Itʼs also clear you have a number of great directions/concepts that could be developed into a great 501 research project. It would be good to talk more about this and discuss what your key focus for this might be, and also what you see as the main milestones in such a project. Overall this is a very strong submission that augurs well for a successful 501.
