Our Goals
• To find out who are the most widely known mobsters among MCC’s students and faculty.
• To see if MCC’s students and faculty know where those mobsters are now.
• To find out if MCC’s students and faculty think that any mobsters still exist.

Who Was Surveyed?
• 23 MCC students and faculty
• 8 men and 15 women
• Aged from 18 to 57
• Average age of 32.7
The 4th Most Widely Known Mobster
Joseph “Joe Bananas” Bonanno
General Information
• Listed on 3 surveys (13.0 %)
• Born on January 18, 1905 in Sicily, Italy
• Mob Boss in New York from 1931 to 1968
• Wrote his autobiography, A Man of Honor, in 1983
• Currently 97 years old and living in Tuscon, Arizona
The 3rd Most Widely Known Mobster
Jimmy Hoffa
General Information
• Listed on 4 surveys (17.4 %)
• Born on February 14, 1913 in Brazil, Indiana
• Most powerful Teamster Boss of all time
• Disappeared on July 30, 1975
• Presumed dead
The 2nd Most Widely Known Mobster
John Gotti
General Information
• Listed on 8 surveys (34.8 %)
• Born on October 27, 1940 in Bronx, New York
• Capo of Gambino Crime Family from 1971 to 1985
• Boss of Gambino Crime Family from 1985 to 1992
• Convicted on RICO charges on April 1, 1992
• Serving “life without parole” in a Marion, Illinois prison

• Listed on 13 surveys (56.5 %)
• Born on January 17, 1899 in Brooklyn, New York
• Mob Boss in Chicago from 1925 until 1931
• Responsible for the Valentine’s Day Massacre in 1929
• Convicted of tax evasion on October 18, 1931
• Died on January 25, 1947 of complications from syphilis

• Three people listed Bonanno as a mobster they knew
• All three thought that Bonanno was dead
• All three were wrong
• Bonanno is alive and well

• The five that thought that Gotti was in prison were correct
• Gotti has been serving a “life without parole” sentence in a Marion, Illinois prison since April 1, 1992
Where is Capone?
• Thirteen people listed Capone as a mobster they knew
• Eleven thought that Capone was dead
• One thought that Capone was in New York
• One did not answer
• The eleven that thought that Capone was dead were correct
• Capone died on January 25, 1947 of complications from syphilis
Do Mobsters Still Exist?
• Twenty-three people were surveyed
• All twenty-three gave the same answer
• Yes, mobsters do still exist
Conclusion
• MCC’s Main Mobsters are Bonanno, Hoffa, Gotti, and Capone
• On average, MCC’s students and faculty correctly knew the location of these mobsters 71.4% of the time
• According to 100% of the MCC’s students and faculty who were surveyed, mobsters do still exist
