ePO 5.1.1 install package built in SQL server express 2008 which cannot be installed to Windows Server 2012.

If installed OS is Windows Server 2012 R2, please download SQL Server 2012 express at below web:

Installation Step

For Demo/test environment, please follow this SOP step by step to make sure the install process completely successful.

1. Create Active Directory Domain Services

2. Install SQL Server Express

3. Install ePO

Installation Step (Create Active Directory Domain Services)

Server LAN port must be connected and IP must be set


In Server Manager, click Add roles and features


In Add Roles and Features Wizard, click Next


Confirm Role-based or feature-based, click Next


Choose a server, click Next


Check Active Directory Domain Services and click Next =>Add Features=>Next


In Features, click Next


In AD DS, click Next


In Confirmation, click Install


After completed Feature install, click Close


Click the flag and, click Promote this server to a domain controller


Select Add a new forest, determine domain name, and click Next


Set the password, and click Next


In DNS Options, and click Next


In Additional Options, and click Next


In Paths, and click Next


In Review Options, and click Next


In Prerequistes Check, check there is no error and click Install


In Prerequistes Check, check there is no error and click Install (System will log off and login with Domain)

Installation Step (Install SQL Express)

Please double click SQLEXPR_x64_ENU.exe


Click SQL Server stand-alone installation


Click “I accept the license terms” and click Next


No need to update with Internet, click Next


Using default, click Next


Set Account Name: administrator and set password

Set SQL Server Browser to Automatic

Click Next


Click Next


Click Next, install will be started


Check install, and click Close

Installation Step (Install SQL Express) Run Sql Sserver Configuration Manager=>SQL Server

Network Configuration

Please check protocols for SQL Express:

– TCP/IP must be enabled

– TCP port must set to 1433 (each IP)


Reboot the system

Installation Step

Double click Setup.exe and click "Next“

NOTE: please mark above check box if there is existed ePO database in the system

Choose “Custom" and click "Next“

NOTE: if OS is WS2008 and doesn’t have SQL server, please select Express to install SQL 2008

If you do not have the License key yet, choose Evolution for install, and evolution copy will expire in 90 days

First to login the McAfee® ePO management, need to modify the security settings

From tab "Security", to choose "Trusted sites", then click "Sites"

Click button "Add" to add this website to the zone

After add the site to the security zone, it will see the login interface, and will tip to add the License key on the below

When get the License key, to enter the License Key and click "Add License"

When enter the right License Key, will see the successfully message, and click "Log On"
