Newsletter

The 2014-15 school year is flying by and believe it or not, staff will soon be

making recommendations and students will begin selecting courses for next

school year. In the next month or so, you may want to review your students’

progress, talk with them about future goals and what their course selections

might include. Remember, it is very informative for you and your student to

review their data on our Home Access Center (HAC) web page. It would assist

you in transcript courses, grades and current classes. Also, our curriculum guide

is available on our home page for general information, graduation requirement,

teacher selection and reference materials to make course selections. If you need

assistance feel free to contact the guidance office for instructions.

Parents are encouraged to be a part of student success, and this is a great

opportunity to stay involved in their educational choices. School counselors are

always available for course explanation and the most beneficial pathway in your

selection process. I would encourage students to challenge themselves and

make every effort to take a full schedule as an upper classman. So many times I

see great students take their senior year off, in preparation for college. That is

much like a NFL star going on vacation before playing in the Super Bowl.

Mazama offers a wide variety of courses that will challenge every student, if

they choose this path.

students participated in educational

and fun workshops while others

competed in tests or speaking events.

As a school, Mazama had 7 first place

finishers and of the 7 winners, 5 are

FBLA members. A free lunch was

provided by KCC and an awards cere-

mony was held at the end.

KCC ADVANCED DIPLOMA (ADP)

ADP is a partnership between Klamath Community College, KCC, the Klamath County School

District, Klamath Falls City Schools, Eagle Ridge High School and Lake County School District

that keeps your seniors enrolled in high school after the senior year, while providing a free year of

college at KCC, including tuition, fees and textbooks (valued upwards of $7000).

Students will be dually-enrolled in high school and KCC, and are - for most intents and purposes -

college students.

The school district will retain the high school diploma during the ADP. Upon completing a full

academic year in the ADP or upon withdrawing from the program, the student will receive a high

school diploma.

After ADP, the student is welcome to continued at KCC, transfer to another college or university

or jump into the career he/she trained for while in the ADP.
