The Outlook

Glenn’s Thoughts

I want to make you aware of a “Food Drive” we are going to have starting Sunday May 20th and ending on Wednesday Night June 13. Many of us have become aware of the growing number of children in our area that are listed as at risk for hunger. Our Church recently gave $1,000 to King Out-reach Ministries for the “Back Pack” program at King Elementary that sends food home in back packs every Friday afternoon to at risk children. They have at least 7 meals in that back pack for the weekend that require little or no preparation. The summer time is a critical time for KOM and their ministry. Most of their food donations come in around holidays. Food can get scarce in the summer. This is why we are having a “Food Drive” in late May and June. Please take time to grab a few extra items when shopping through this time. We just finished a great weekend at Park Springs Camp. We had our annual Family Re-treat there in April. We had great weather and great fellowship all weekend. Please mark your calendar and plan to attend next year. This event will draw you closer to the Lord and to the family here at church. It is worth the investment of one weekend for your family. Last, I want to ask you to be in prayer for Pam Tillman and a group of Johnson University stu-dents traveling to Africa this May. They are visit-ing our missionary in Toga, Africa. The students will be doing VBS for children while Pam and several nurses will be part of a medical team that will be working at the Mission there in Toga. This is very exciting that we will have one of our own working hand in hand with one of our missionaries overseas. Please be in prayer for the whole team as they travel this May. We will have lots of opportunities from May to August for your family to fellowship and get in-volved in activities. Of course we don’t expect you to do them all but I pray you will take ad-vantage of these opportunities to fellowship and grow closer to the body here at Frist Christian. I will be praying that you have a great summer as we share it in the Lord together.

Love in Christ, Glenn

Luke’s letter to the flock Wow what an awesome last couple of months we

have had. God has blessed me over these past two months

and really helped me to connect with each and every one of

our students. They have welcomed me in well by this point

with reaching out to others and shining their light, leading

worship on Wednesdays, helping when I ask them to and

even showing their love for me in rearranging my office!!!

Does life get any better?

I want to say a special THANK YOU to all of you

who have helped out with all the events involving your stu-

dents, especially the Yard Sale! The summer is almost here

and our students will be getting busy busy busy…but I want

you to help me keep our Lord in the forefront of their minds.

We always have to find time to slow down and seek him out

in all that we do. Please continue to be in prayer for our stu-

dents throughout these next two months with exams and the

end of the school year approaching fast.

ATTENTION

Starting in May, we will be

instituting a child safety

check-in procedure. This

is to provide protection for

the youth of our church.

Parents of all youth, ages

birth to 5th grade, must fill

out an information sheet

on your child and return it

to Peter ASAP.

Adults wishing to work

with any of our youth, birth

to 18 yrs.), must submit to

a background check.

Questions about either one

of these steps should be

directed to Peter.

peter’s point of view

Hello friends! May is upon us and we have several fun things

planned. Kids Fusion “Fun Night” for K-2nd graders on May 4th from 5pm-9pm. The cost will be $5.00. Sign up by May 2nd.

Kids Fusion “Lock-In” for 3rd-5th graders on May 18th-19th from 8pm-8am. The cost will be $10.00. Sign up by May 16th.

Please fill out the Event Envelopes. These will be fun events so don’t miss out kids! May 20: 5:30pm-7:30pm Kids Fusion “Water Game Night”

I know it’s hard to believe but it’s time to start thinking about

summer!. However there is no denying it with VBS right around the corner running June 10th-13th. Soon you will be seeing sign up sheet’s for VBS volunteers so please be in prayer about how God

may use you during this fun week. This year our VBS will be called “GOD’S HOUSE ROCKS.” During this week we will look at what we

are called to be if we live in Gods house. This should be a fun week. Along with VBS the adults and kids are once again going to do a food drive to help the hungry kids in our community.

It is also time for camp. If you have not signed up for camp it’s not too late. However you have missed the early bird registra-

tion price break, but don’t let that stop you from sending your child for a spiritually challenging week. Please be on the look out for our summer “Super Tuesday”

calendars as we get closer to June. Lastly, remember to get the child safety information sheets

back to me ASAP so I can enter all of the data for your child. All youth ages birth to 5th grade must have one filled out.

Thank You

Thank you so much for the beauti-ful flowers and the love and pray-ers during Daddy’s illness and passing.

Sandra & Keith Smith

Thank You

Thank you for the flowers, food and your prayers during a very difficult time for our family. Even though Mother and Daddy had not been able to attend in quite a while they loved their church and their church family and appreciated the calls, visits and cards sent to them. Maude Hall family
