The Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity is the central mystery of the Christian faith and life. It is the mystery of God in Himself. It is therefore, the source of all the other mysteries of faith, the light that enlightens them. It is the most funda-mental and essential teaching in the hierarchy of the truths of faith. (Catechism of the Catholic Faith #234)

Prayer for Trinity Sunday - Almighty God, Fa-ther, Son and Spirit, who is power, wisdom, and love, inspire in us those same three things: power to serve You, wisdom to please You, and love to accomplish Your will. The power that I may do, wisdom that I may know what to do, and love that I may be Moved to do all that is pleasing to You.

Bishop Cunningham & Cardinal Dolan are call-ing upon N.Y.S. lawmakers to enact the Educa-tion Tax Credit (ETC) before they adjourn in mid June. This measure will provide much needed tuition relief for families who choose a Catholic school for their children & will increase support to our public schools as well. This is the year to make it happen and we need your help. Please go to www.nyscatholic.org & click on “Hot Issues:

Action Alert” to urge lawmakers to vote in favor of the ETC. Thank You!

Father’s NotesFather’s NotesFather’s NotesFather’s Notes Prayer for the Protection of Religious Liberty O God Our Creator, from your provident hand we have received our right to life, liberty, and the pur-suit of happiness. You have called us as your people and given us the right and the duty to worship you, the only true God, and your Son, Jesus Christ. Through the power and working of your Holy Spirit, you call us to live out our faith in the midst of the world, bringing the light and the saving truth of the Gospel to every corner of society. We ask you to bless us in our vigilance for the gift of religious lib-erty. Give us the strength of mind and heart to read-ily defend our freedoms when they are threatened; give us courage in making our voices heard on be-half of the rights of your Church and the freedom of conscience of all people of faith. Grant, we pray, O heavenly Father, a clear and united voice to all your sons and daughters gathered in your Church in this decisive hour in the history of our nation, so that, with every trial withstood and every danger over-come— for the sake of our children, our grandchil-dren, and all who come after us— this great land will always be “one nation, under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.” We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen. The World Meeting of Families, Philadelphia (Sept. 22-27), The Diocese is sending two bus trips to attend the Papal Mass on September 27! Space is extremely limited, and pilgrims should be pre-pared for a physically demanding trip. Youth Groups can register at syrpapalmassyouth. eventbrite.com; young adults & families register at: syrpapalmassadultfam.eventbrite.com Don't miss this once-in-a-lifetime experience! A Bequest in Your Will, no matter what the amount, can help the parish continue its mission of spreading the fullness of the Gospel of Jesus Christ in the Church He founded and of serving God’s peo-ple. Everyone should have a will, no matter what your financial circumstances. You need a will to ensure that your possessions will be distributed as you desire. When making your bequest, please use the full legal name and address: Church of the Immaculate Conception 1180 State Highway 206 Greene, NY 13778 May God bless you for your thoughtfulness.

In Praise of Praise They strengthened the spirits of the disciples, and

exhorted them to persevere in the faith...Acts 14:22

Everybody needs some encouragement and recogni-tion… but some people think that praising others is beneath them… that it is just blarney or flattery… insincere. No question that some praise is insincere, because it is a lie told to get something out of the other. But what about the honest recognition and appraisal of another’s talents and achievements? To do this, one must be attentive to what others are doing. One must see the small developments and little victories… What a pity to be so small-minded that we are loathe to give credit where it is due. The hunger for a little assurance these days is so great that the receiving of it causes unusual joy. Everyone needs encouragement in order to grow toward the vision they have of themselves. To recognize this we take our eyes off superstars… and look rather at the everyday behavior of the people around us. To be Christians is to love: to wipe away the tears; to rejoice in other’s growth. It is a measure of our personal greatness to excel in noticing, upholding and celebrating the greatness of our neighbor. Fr.

Alfred McBride, O. Praem

The Courage to be Witnesses Since the first days of Christianity, there has been a conversation between those who believe & those who do not. One aspect of this conversation takes place between faith & culture. Believers themselves approach the dialogue differently. Some, suffering from a failure of nerve, build a fence around faith, protecting it lest culture contaminate it. Others make Christian faith over in the image of the culture, baptizing cultural expressions in the name of the Gospel. Others, however, have enough trust in faith to get involved in culture without identifying with it. They offer a particular kind of resistance & chal-lenge to the culture. We see this in these Scripture readings, “We are witnesses… we and the Holy Spirit God has given to those who obey Him” (Acts 5:32) & “Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life” (John 3:36). The world needs witnesses. It cries out despite itself for people of courage, willing to confront it with “the One who comes from heaven.” For the world somehow knows that, in the end, only life open to the Eternal can be called life at all. Dear friends, Do you remember being in 7th grade and feeling so much older than the 6th graders? Or how about a college freshmen and feeling like to hang out with a high school senior would make you seem like a loser? It’s funny how in that time in our life, things like people’s ages seemed so important. Last week I sat in the parish hall with someone who was 10 years older than me, 20 years older and also 37 years older! We played cards, commiserated and laughed the morning away. It doesn’t really matter what the difference in ages are, as long as we enjoy each other’s company! Everyone should take a moment this week to reach out and make a new friend! Say hello to someone new sitting near you. Introduce yourself to the person who parked next to you outside. Hold the door for an elderly person. Smile at a child. Think of something positive about being at church today and take it home with you! If you missed the spaghetti dinner, that’s really too bad. We had over 70 people including Father Lupa, Father Darr from Bainbridge, retired Priests Father Gerlock & Father Hobbes. Everyone seemed to enjoy each other’s company, the power point slide show and the good food. Thank you to the kitchen crew, Edilu, Audrée, Peg, Mary and Ida, for all the hard work. And to all those who pitched in before, during and after. All together they made sure the rest of us had a wonderful dinner! I think Father Darr enjoyed his tour of the church. He especially seemed to like the altar and stained glass window pieces from the old church, as well as the beautiful back lawn. He said it was spectacular! After much prayer, conversation, email and phone calls, it has been decided that Greene and Oxford should keep the current Mass schedule. Everyone should be aware by now, that down the road all the rural churches will all need to go to one Mass per weekend, but right now we will work the Mass schedule out with Father Lupa travelling down from Sherburne, and either Father Smith or a retired Priest from Binghamton covering when he isn’t available. I spoke with Father Lupa, our administrator Msgr. Putano and St. Joseph’s in Oxford, and they are supportive of this. If anyone should need to attend a Mass at another church because of summer schedules, please take your envelope along for the collection basket. We are all in agreement and make sure parishioner collections get mailed back to the home church. Have a beautiful week! Peace!~Mary Wentlent

Please be aware that some churches in Chenango

County are altering their Mass schedule begin-

ning July 1. The ICC and St. Josephs Mass sched-

ule will remain the same. ICC weekend schedule

is Saturday 4:00 and Sunday 10:15 am. Oxford

weekend schedule is Saturday 5:45 and Sunday

8:45 am. Please remember to put your collection

contribution in an envelope so that the respective

church offices can mail it back to the proper

church office. All parishes are continuing their

day to day operation and are very dependent on

parishioner contributions.
