Father Patrick Peyton moves closer to Sainthood Pope Francis advanced the sainthood cause of Holy Cross Father Patrick Peyton. Father Peyton, known world-wide as "The Rosary Priest," was a Catholic media pio-neer in the 1940s, using ra-dio and later television to produce popular programs featuring Hollywood stars
and other celebrities to promote family prayer. His ministry produced more than 600 radio and television programs and 10,000 broadcasts. The priest also conducted rosary crusades for millions of people in dozens of countries.
He had two especially famous mottos: "The family that prays together stays together" and "A world at prayer is a world at peace."

HOLY FAMILY PASSIONIST RETREAT CENTER
2017-18 RETREAT THEME:
Join Holy Family’s retreat team for a weekend of peace and reflection on the power of God's grace in our lives. In an age of division, tension and change, Grace Enough will explore the many ways God's presence empowers us and supports us through every step of life's journey. Discover anew how God’s grace is our greatest source of strength and courage to meet the ever-present challenges in our lives. Together we’ll reflect on how living in God's grace guides us to make wise choices, lead-ing to true happiness and peace. The retreat begins with a buffet dinner from 6:00-7:30 p.m. on Friday evening and concludes with the celebration of Sun-day Eucharist at 10:45 a.m., followed by a hot brunch at noon. Families of retreatants are most welcome to attend the Sunday mass and brunch at no extra charge. Offering: $320; more if you can, less if you can’t. Visit www.holyfamilyretreat.org/graceenough for retreat dates.
NATIONAL MIGRATION WEEK
The U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops’ Justice for Immigrants Campaign is working on behalf of the Bishops, including our own Archbishop Leonard P. Blair, to promote humane migration policies to-wards refugees and immigrants that reflect our Catholic values. To add your voice to this urgent is-sue, send an electronic message to your lawmakers (see: Justiceforimmigrants.org).
National Migration Week, January 7 – 14, 2018, is an opportunity to become aware of the millions on God’s children fleeing war, persecution and poverty and to share their journey by walking with them in prayer and support.
In the words of Pope Francis: “Closeness to the poor, the refugee, the immigrant, the sick, the ex-ploited, the elderly living alone, prisoner and all God’s other poor, will teach us a different way of resting, one which is more Christian and generous.”
Also visit these websites: Sharejourney.org, and/or ArchdioceseofHarford.org.
Share the Warmth! The Pope Francis Center for Renewal is in need of winter coats, gloves, hats, scarves, and blankets. Please help our brothers and sisters during this long, cold winter!
Please call 203-910-2234 or drop off donations to the Cen-ter for Renewal Tuesday through Saturday 8:30 A.M. to 12 Noon. All donations are greatly appreciated.

Prayer of Pope Francis—for Families Jesus, Mary and Joseph, in you we contemplate
the splendour of true love, to you we turn with trust. Holy Family of Nazareth,
grant that our families too may be places of communion and prayer,
authentic schools of the Gospel and small domestic Churches.
Holy Family of Nazareth, may families never again
experience violence, rejection and division: may all who have been hurt or scandalized
find ready comfort and healing. Holy Family of Nazareth,
make us once more mindful of the sacredness and inviolability of the family,
and its beauty in God’s plan. Jesus, Mary and Joseph, graciously hear our prayer. Amen.
Thanksgiving after Communion (Prayer of St. Thomas Aquinas)
Lord, Father all-powerful and ever-living God, I thank You, for even though I am a sinner,
your unprofitable servant, not because of my worth but in the kindness of your mercy, You have fed me with
the Precious Body & Blood of Your Son, our Lord Jesus Christ.
I pray that this Holy Communion may not bring me condemnation and punishment but forgiveness and salvation.
May it be a helmet of faith and a shield of good will. May it purify me from evil ways
and put an end to my evil passions. May it bring me charity and patience,
humility and obedience, and growth in the power to do good.
May it be my strong defense against all my enemies, visible and invisible,
and the perfect calming of all my evil impulses, bodily and spiritual.
May it unite me more closely to you, the One true God, and lead me
safely through death to everlasting happiness with You.
And I pray that You will lead me, a sinner, to the banquet where you,
with Your Son and Holy Spirit, are true and perfect light, total fulfillment, everlasting joy,
gladness without end, and perfect happiness to your saints. Grant this through Christ our Lord,
AMEN.

Prayer for the Canonization of our Parish Son, The Venerable Michael J. McGivney
God, our Father, protector of the poor, and defender of the widow and orphan, you called your priest, Father Mi-chael J. McGivney, to be an apostle of Christian family life and to lead the young to the generous service of their neighbor. Through the example of his life and virtue may we follow your Son, Jesus Christ, more closely, fulfilling his commandment of charity and building up his Body which is the Church. Let the inspiration of your servant prompt us to greater confidence in your love so that we may con-tinue his work of caring for the needy and the outcast. We humbly ask that you glorify your servant Father Mi-chael J. McGivney on earth according to the design of your holy will. Through his intercession, grant the favor, I now present (here make your request). Through Christ Our Lord. Amen.
