A Note From Bob -

When you celebrate Mother’s Day this year, take advantage of the opportunity to lift up the role, as well as, the person called “Mom” in your world. Remember that there are little daughters wondering if being “just a mother” is admirable. The world is telling young women the lie that being a mom is not fulfilling enough -that it is too restricting.

There are also little boys growing up that haven’t learned to respect the role of the mom in our society. What does she do? What does she contribute to the GNP?

The nurturing/guiding/training role that a mother can play in a child’s life is incredibly important. A little girl learns how to do “mom” by watching her own

mom. A little boy learns how to identify a partner for life by watching mom. Mom is worth celebrating for countless personal reasons; and the role of mom is worth celebrating for the sake of the future of our culture.

Take the time to sit around the table on Mother’s Day and initiate a discussion about all the awesome things Mom does to bless the family. Talk about why she does so many sacrificial things. Understand that her family is her ministry and her calling from God. Mother’s Day is as much about the necessity of a mother’s role as it is about the person fulfilling that role. The next generation needs to understand the importance of “Mom.”

Serving Him,

This Easter season,

Steve and Terri Griffith decided to show the boys of children’s home 3

“The Passion of the Christ.”

house parents Steve and Terri Griffith decided to show

the boys of children’s home 3 “The Passion of the Christ.”

They broke it up in two sessions in order to leave plenty of time for discussion. Due to the intensity of the film, they gave the boys permission to leave the room if the movie became overwhelming.

As House Mom Terri was in the kitchen preparing dessert, one teary eyed boy appeared in the kitchen about 30 minutes into night two of the film. “I just

couldn’t look at Jesus suffer anymore” he said. Terri told him how she cried during that entire movie and knew just how he was feeling.

Tasting the dessert was a good distraction when a second boy entered softly crying. Immediately, the first boy hugged the second then Terri handed him a spoon as well. Moments later, two other boys came crying in earnest. They all talked, cried, hugged, and nibbled on dessert. It was a very sweet moment for Terri to witness the boys grasping the idea that sin had a price to be paid; and Jesus willingly paid it as our perfect Redeemer. The following night they prepared a Seder plate to find Jesus in this ancient Passover tradition. They wound their way through the ten plagues, the blood over the doorframe, and the provision and exodus of God’s chosen people from Egypt. The boys realized that our need for a Savior was obvious. As a practical application, everyone wrote down just one sin he was guilty of, painted it with red paint, folded it in half, and nailed it to the cross to show that it is finished.

“It was a great first time event. It introduced new people to your ministry, and it is not the same ‘ol chicken dinner fundraiser. Well done.”

~Craig Huston, National Christian Foundation of South Florida

The sun was shining and the road was smooth for the inaugural Sheridan House Motorcycle Run on March 27th. We had 40 bikers “Riding

to Restore a Life” as we hit the road to the Clewiston Inn and back for an incredible lunch

courtesy of Flanigan’s in Weston. With event founder and Sheridan House board member,

Glenn Curran, leading the charge, it was an amazing day to ride while raising funds to

benefit the ministries served by Sheridan House each and every day.

HERE’S WHAT A COUPLE OF OUR PARTICIPANTS HAD TO SAY:

1st Annual Motorcycle Run

“There aren’t many times in life you can have this much fun with a great group of people while raising money for a great cause. This was a first class motorcycle event and we can’t wait to do it again next year! Actually, once a year just might not be enough.”

~Glenn Curran, Event Founder
