    ABSTRACT

Background: Defects in the maxillofacial surgery will result in a wide range of

disorders and an issue that needs to be resolved. The problem is, there are still

many people who do not know about the existence of prosthetic treatment of

maxillofacial surgery, and also there is many cases of prosthetic that could not be

handled with plastic surgery. So it's important to know the types of maxillofacial

prosthesis that has been used to treat trauma cases of maxillofacial surgery in the

Makassar city. Research purposes: To describe the types of maxillofacial

prosthesis that has been used in Makassar in the range 2001-2011. Method:

Colecting patient medical record of maxillofacial prosthesis cases at the hospital,

Rumah Sakit Polisi Bhayangkara, Rumah Sakit Gigi dan Mulut Kandea Bagian

Prostodonsia, Klinik Family Dentistry Makassar, dan Klinik Denta Medica Makassar.

Key Word: Trauma maxillofacial, Maxillofacial prosthesis, Makassar.

    ABSTRACT

Introduction: Denture adhesive bridge is minimal intervention by the retention ofthe cement bond to the metal and teeth. Restoration failure is due to the release ofthe bond between the cement to the tooth surface and the metal surface. Toovercome these shortcomings there are a variety of alternative treatments to themetal surface and the tooth surface. This study deals with the treatment on the metalsurface in mesh form.Research Objectives : To know and understand the different mesh sizes of40, 60 and 80 mesh to themetal surface treatment in shear bond strength ofadhesive resin cement .Materials and Methods: Forty (40) pairs of upper incisors centralis samples wereprepared in the palatal surfaces with a thickness of 0.3 mm and made from a patternof blue wax. The samples were divided into four groups. Three treatment groups (40mesh, 60 mesh and 80 mesh) and a control group (no mesh). In the treatment group,

the pattern of the surface of the against a given mesh surface of the toothpreparation. Wax pattern in nickel-chromium alloy cast iron with a metal plateattached to the palatal surface of the teeth with adhesive resin cement (Panavia F2.0), immersed in artificial saliva for 24 hours at 37 C. Moreover, the shear bondstrength test inspection and residual resin cement on the surface of the metal plate

made in the laboratory of the Department of Metallurgical Engineering of ITB. Theanalysis of the data using one-wayANOVA with statistical significance limit p = 0.05.

Results: Shear bond strength adherence of sliding metal mesh plates 60 is greaterthan 40 mesh, 80 mesh and one control group. Inspection stereomicroscopeadhesive resin cement remaining metal plates by treatment with mesh plate 60 ofmetal mesh 40, butmore than 80 mesh treatment or control group. Conclusion : Shear bong strengthadhesive resin cement to metal surfacesdepends on the size of the mesh used. Area adhesive resin cement glue that is stillin the mesh of the metal surface after removal of the strong influence adhesion

    ABSTRACT

Objective: To know the power of retentive clasp design Akers and back actionabutment molar and premolar one of thetop and bottom as well as the clasp of the most appropriate design for the abutment.Materials and Methods: The study used 16 samples: 8 samples I (gypsum basewith natural teeth) and 8 samples II (gypsum base metal crown) of the premolars andmolars of the upper and lower with Gerong depth of 0.25 mm. Sample II soakedartificial saliva, surveyed and made a point of rest. Akers and back action clasp mounted on a metal crown and abutment retentifnya strength measured with Instron UTM appliance. Results: The highest retentive strength metal abutment crown molar and premolarwith akers than back action. Highest retentive strength on metal molar abutment

crowns on the abutment clasp Akers and upper premolars with metal crownsback action. Conclusion: The power of retentive best upper molars and premolars with Akers onthe back action.Ada significant differences between the groups retentive power claspdesign.
