However, a related but unintended component of electricity supply is DEMAND usually measured in kVA. This component is related to WHEN and at what RATE energy is supplied. For measuring the energy, the calculation is as given in chapter 6, i.e. Energy = kWh = V x I x cos x time x 10 -3 The traditional method of measurement is an electromechanical meter with a rotating disc, which drives a cyclometer to give the reading of kWh.
