What we learn about squirrel is that he is prepared for any situation. Answers will vary but students will use inferences and text evidence to answer.
3. How is Scaredy Squirrel different at the end of the story?
At the beginning of the story squirrel is afraid of everything and refuses to leave his tree at the end of the story he learns he is a flying squirrel and the world is not such a scary place.

The things that will really hurt Scaredy Squirrel are poison ivy, killer bees, and tarantulas. The items that seem silly are martians and sharks because martians are imaginary and sharks are found in the ocean.
Scaredy Squirrel is scared of everything and refuses to leave his tree home.
Character: Scaredy Squirrel Setting: Tree in a forest.
Squirrel is afraid of everything and spends everyday in his tree. He has a boring schedule and has several safety plans just in case.
Squirrel spend his day preparing for emergencies, getting his emergency kit ready and looking for possible dangers.
One day a killer bee appears in his tree and he jumps and knocks his emergency kit out of the tree. Then squirrel jumps to get it.
He suddenly realizes he is a flying squirrel and lands in the bushes and suddenly forgets all the things he is afraid of.
He lands in the bush and pretend to play dead for 2 hours and realizes he is unharmed.
He finally realizes the world is not so scary and decides to make some changes to his daily routine that includes being outside of the tree.
In the end Squirrel is happy with his new routine and knows that the world can be fun to explore but he is in no hurry to get his emergency kit anymore.
