A STUDY ON MATERIAL HANDLING SYSTEM WITH REFERENCE TO RANE AUTOMOTIVE INDUSTRYDefinition: Material handling is the movement, storage, control and protection of material, goods and products throughout the process of manufacturing, distribution, consumption and disposal. Need for the study: The organization is incurring damage to an extent of 15% due to the improper existing material handling system. This leads to increase in the production cost. So, it is needed to reduce the damage percentage in order to decrease the production cost. Currently, the bag wise unloading of items leads more time delay and material collected through trolley have some fixed quantity. Constraints further, improper material handling leads to quality variation during receipt and issues and must be delay in production.Objective of the study: To analyze the existing material handling system To optimize the lead time for material movement and vehicle turnaround time To suggest an improvised material handling system to increase productivity and working condition Scope of the study: The study will improve the material handling system by reducing the lead time of material movement in which it further reduce the inventory holding cost to the organization.
