    1. Characteristic of hoist

    3. TERMS

    4. Selection Criteria

    2. General Code and Standards“BADA” hoist meets an international standard, FEM, particularly.

The qualified product has the following charateristics.

    • Design Standard : FEM code and ANSI B30.16

    • Equipments are designed and fabricated to withstand offshore environment like hot, cold, humid or salt-laden.

    • All hooks have self-locking latches and permanently marked SWLs.

    • Load chain material : Corrosion resistant material.

    • Each trolley has buffer at each end.

    • Trolley wheel equips with the sealed anti-friction bearings and moves on the curved monorail smoothly and freely.

    • Breaking test performs during FAT.

    • Chain sprockets and chain guides are contoured in order to provide positive- and non-slipping movement.

    • The following equipments are installed on a trolley.

    1) Locking at a rest device

    2) Adjustable wheel device to set on the monorail width

    3) Anti-derailment device

    4) Anti-drop device

    • It may be designed that it stops automatically when the actuating force is removed.

    1) Head Room indicates the distance between the monorail flange bottom and the contacting surface of hook.

    2) Beam Elevation indicates the distance between the monorail flange bottom and the operation deck.

    3) Dead Space indicates the space cannot be worked by trolley length.

For FEM classification, two fundamental criteria separates two methods. :

the duty type and the operation time from the average daily operating time of the equipment hoisting movement.

The load spectrum Operating time group

    • 1. Light (L1) : K ≤ 0.50

Hoist units which are usually subject to very small loads and in

exceptional cases only to maximum loads.

    • 2. Medium (L2) : 0.50 < K ≤ 0.63

Hoist units which are usually subject to small loads but rather often to

    maximum loads.

    • 3. Heavy (L3) : 0.63 < K ≤ 0.80v

Hoist units which are usually subject to medium loads but frequently to

    maximum loads.

    • 4. Very heavy (L4) : 0.80 < K ≤ 1.00

Hoist units which are usually subject to maximum or almost maximum loads.

(as estimated), can be evaluated in accordance with the following definitions : Criteria to obtain average operating time in hours per day: defined as tm

    Relation between ISO and FEM-Denominations

The average operating time per working day is estimated or calculated as follows :

For the medium load spectrum and an average daily operating time of 3.05 hours the table shows FEM
