    TRANSITION TO 2019

    This guide is designed to help you update your Mastercam files for use inMastercam2019. A standard installation tothe default locations is assumed. If you need assistance with a non-standard installation, you should contact yourlocalMastercamReseller. Use the information included here to automatically migrate the majority of your files,manually copy any files not included automatically, and to get up and running with the latest version of Mastercam.

    Before You BeginMastercam2019 includes a powerful, yet straightforwardMigrationWizard. The MigrationWizard has two optionsyou can choose from: Basic or Advanced. For Basic, you select and set the target directories and the destination loc-ation to update the majority of your files to the current version. For Advanced, you choose what file types and ver-sion types to migrate in addition to selecting and setting the target directories and destination location. Some of thefilesmigrated by this wizard are:

    l Mastercampart files (MCAM)

    l Defaults files

    l Operation and tool libraries

    l Control definitions

    l Machine definitions

    l Post files

  • RUNNING THE MIGRATION WIZARD

    Run the MigrationWizard the first time you launchMastercam2019 and before you begin to make changes to theMastercam2019 setup.

    Before running the MigrationWizard, be aware of the following:

    l NC and NCI files are notmigrated.

    l If files have not changed from the originally distributed versions, then they will not be updated to the latestversion.

    l You canmigrate either or both the my mcam and the shared mcam folders to the current version.

    l The nethasp.ini can only be processed if you are logged on as an administrator while running the Migra-tionWizard.

    If the MigrationWizard encounters any errors, it halts the process until you take appropriate action.

    Launching the Migration WizardUse the following procedure to launch the MigrationWizard:

    1. LaunchMastercamusing your preferredmethod.

    2. Select File, Convert, and then clickMigration Wizard.

    3. TheMigration Wizard displays.

    Basic MigrationBy selecting the Basic option, you will automatically update all Mastercam file types from the previous version tothe current version. Tomigrate files with the Basic option, follow the instructions below:

    1. Select Basic on theWelcome to the Mastercam Migration Wizard page.

    2. On the File Locations page, do the following:

    a. Choose the destination folder for the files in the shared mcam2018 folder.

    b. Choose the destination folder for the files in themy mcam2018 folder.

    c. ClickNext.

    Note: You cannot change the source folder when doing Basicmigration.

    3. Review your choices on the Finish page.

    4. Once you are satisfied with your selections, click Finish.

  • Advanced MigrationBy selecting the Advanced option, you can choose which file types to update, as well as file versions. To update andmigrate files with the Advanced option, follow the instructions below:

    1. Select Advanced on theWelcome to the Mastercam Migration Wizard page.

    2. On the File Locations page, do the following:

    a. SelectMigrate shared Mastercam files andMigrate my Mastercam files.

    b. Choose the source folder and destination folder for the shared Mastercam files.

    c. Choose the source folder and destination folder for themy Mastercam files.

    You can include or exclude subfolders by selecting or deselecting the checkbox.

    3. ClickNext.

    4. On the File Types page, select the type of files you want to migrate. Then, clickNext.

    5. On the Versions page, select the Mastercam file versions you want to migrate. Then, clickNext.

    6. Review your selections on the Completing the Migration Process page.

    7. Once you are satisfied with your selections, click Finish.

  • HANDLING REMAINING FILES

    Certain files are not migrated through the wizard andmust be manually copied into the Mastercam2019 structure.These include files that are outside of the default installation locations, as well as the following:

    CIMCO Machine FilesIf you are running or logged in as an administrator, CIMCOMachine files are located under your ...\ProgramFiles\mcam2018\common\Editors \CIMCOEdit7\Machines folder. In order to copy files into your Mastercam2019 installation youmust be logged in as an administrator. Copy all of the files with an .mch extension from theMastercam2018 location to the Mastercam2019 location as shown below:

    ...\Program Files\mcam2019\common\Editors\CIMCOEdit8\Machines

    Note: If you are not running or logged in as an administrator, CIMCOMachine files are located under your C:\User-s\\AppData folder. The exact location and folder structure may vary, and AppDatamay be a hiddenfolder.

    SOLIDWORKS filesSOLIDWORKS files (.SLDPRT, .SLDASM) including those withMastercam toolpath data and stored in the my mcamand the shared mcam folder are not migrated by the utility. Youmust manually copy these files from their locationin the Mastercam2018 structure to a corresponding location in the Mastercam2019 directory.

    NetHASP.iniIf the NetHASP.iniwas configured in your previous version of Mastercam, copy it from its 2018 location, c:\-program files\mcam2018, to c:\program files\mcam2019.

    Miscellaneous FilesMiscellaneous files include:

    l Graphics files (JPG, BMP, etc.)

    l NC and NCI files

    l Native format files fromother applications (DWG, STL, etc.)

    Copy these file types from their location in the Mastercam2018 structure to a corresponding location within theMastercam2019 structure. They do not need to run through any kind of update process.

    This should complete your transition to the latest version of Mastercam. LaunchMastercam2019 and enjoy theupgrades and enhancements.

    When calling CNC Software for technical support, please follow these guidelines:

    l Be sure you have already tried to contact your MastercamReseller.

    l Provide the serial number of your HASP, NetHASP, or software license.

    l Be ready to describe the problem in detail. Write downwhat happened, particularly if you cannot call imme-diately after the problemoccurs.

    l Be in front of your computer when you call.

    l If possible, try to duplicate the problembefore calling. Our Support Services technicianmay require you toduplicate the problemwhile you are on the phone.

    l When you call, have ready a complete description of your hardware, including your operating system (OS),central processing unit (CPU), graphics card and settings, andmemory.

    You can also leave amessage for CNC Support Services twenty-four hours a day, seven days aweek via our email orwebsite addresses. When sending email, please include:

    l The serial number of your HASP, NetHASP, or software license

    l Telephone number and contact information where you can be reached

    l Files required to reproduce an issue, such as part and post files

    Use Mastercam’s Zip2Go utility to gather Mastercampart data into a compressed Z2G or ZIP file. This utility makes iteasy to provide your MastercamReseller or CNC Support Services with a file attachment that contains the inform-ation they need. Zip2Go scans the machine groups in your current part file and captures information such as yourMastercam configuration, machine definition, and post files. For more information on using Zip2Go, please refer tothe MastercamHelp.
