This degree allows you to combine business management with engineering practice. Offered by the Faculty of Engineering and Built Environment and incorporating Newcastle Business School courses, MEM is designed for those who have an undergraduate degree in engineering, science or a related discipline. It eases the transition to management by offering courses in areas such as managing change, communication and information systems management.

Flexibility

The degree structure enables you to focus on your needs and interests through a range of specialist discipline studies and some elective course choices. The degree can be completed in one year of full-time study, or Australian students may study part-time. Courses are offered on-campus or by completing some courses by distance learning. The range of courses on offer is provided by the Faculty of Engineering and Built Environment and the Newcastle Business School. The Newcastle Business School courses are offered on a trimester basis.

Entry requirements

Candidates are required to have a bachelor’s degree in an appropriate engineering, science or related discipline from an approved tertiary institution.

For those without a degree, entry will be subject to candidates providing evidence of:n a diploma from an approved

institutionn at least four years work experience

at a professional or managerial level

OR n other approved professional

qualifications

Fees

Tuition fees for courses are set according to their academic subject area. A student’s fees may vary depending on course selection. The indicative fee for Australian students is AUD$13,440 and for international students AUD$21,130.

Structure

For the award of MEM, you will need to complete 80 course units.

30 units of core courses10 units from Group A10 units from Group B

The remaining 30 units may be selected from groups A or B combined. To add to the flexibility of the degree and to account for possible special interests and needs of prospective students, group A courses may also be selected from a whole range of courses offered through the Graduate School of Business.
