J une 2013 will be an extraordinary month of faith for the Diocese of Grand Rapids.

The month begins with the ordination of three men to the priesthood on June 1. Then, there’s the Ordination and Installation of our 12th bishop, David J. Walkowiak on June 18. Between those great liturgies will be special events honoring the retirement of Bishop Walter Hurley, our shepherd since Aug. 4, 2005.

Join us next Saturday, June 1, at 10:00 a.m. at God’s Kitchen. You can park along the side street and enter by the front door. We are done by 3:00, enough time to get to Mass. We would like you to stay the full time, but if your schedule only allows you a couple of hours that’s OK. Come see the face of God in those less fortunate and let them bless you.

+++ Due to the prayer service on Tuesday, May 28, the Men’s Group meeting has been moved to Monday, June 3 at 7:00 p.m. in Room 3. All men of the parish are invited.

+++ Also due to the prayer service on the 28th the Rosary Making Group will not be meeting. Join them June 4 in Room 15 as they make Rosaries to be sent to missions. They are about to send their first box to the Philippines.

+++ Parish Picnic: Last year after the fire we came together under the trees in the back, along the trail, to comfort each other and share memories of what we had lost. Join us again this year on July 20 under those same trees as we look forward to a year of excitement as we build our church. We are still in the planning stages and will keep you posted.

+++ BLOOD DRIVE: After disasters we see the destructive forces of man or mother nature. We see first responders going in to help those who are in the rubble. We call these people ‘heroes’ because they want to help those who are in trouble. On June 30 you will be able to be a hero at our Blood Drive. Help someone who needs the gift of life.

+++ “Stewards first understand and are grateful for the many gifts

they have. The next step is to share the gifts they are given.

Stewards share with a joyful heart, for you cannot love

without giving….and this love, is a reflection of God’s love

for them.” Author unknown

PRAYER SERVICE & GROUND BREAKING The count down has really begun to our building of the church! We are only 3 days away from our Ground Breaking. It is a wonderful time. So we ask you all to join us on Tuesday, May 28th at 7 p.m. for our Prayer Service and for those who can, come back on Wednesday, May 29th at 10 a.m. for the Ground Breaking Ceremony! SILENT AUCTION FOR PIANO LESSONS

Hello everyone,

I have had people approach me requesting piano lessons, but would have to decline because of my schedule. How-ever, as part of my pledge to the St. Mary Magdalen Resur-rection Campaign, I will undertake 4 students during the summer only (June 11th to August 27th) on Tuesdays 2-4pm. Lessons are 30 minutes and are $20 each. They will be held in Room 1 in the Family Center (1213 52nd St. SE). Due to the fact that many people have expressed in-terest and there are only 4 spots available, you can obtain your spot through a silent auction. The 4 people who sub-mit the highest bids by June 9th will secure a time slot for Tuesday lessons. The only requirements I have for poten-tial students are the ability to speak and understand Eng-lish, and the students are at least 6 years old. THIS IS NOT FOR PERSONAL FINANCIAL GAIN— ALL PROCEEDS FROM THE SILENT AUCTION AND LESSONS WILL GO TOWARDS THE ST. MARY MAGDALEN RESURRECTION FUND. If you are in-terested in bidding, please send your bid to [email protected]

Live Laugh Love, ~Jenna~
