Coming in 2020 will be a new “General Directory for Catechesis”
from the Vatican. The General Directory for Catechesis is a doc-
ument written by the Congregation for the Clergy of the Roman
Catholic Church, based in Rome. ... The document largely dis-
cusses practical and theoretical aspects of linking catechesis to
evangelization. It is addressed both to the clergy and lay
catechist. The last directory was 1971.
In the Archdiocese of San Francisco we are looking forward to
this guide and will be preparing with area meeting as to how to
implement with our programs.

Think about it this way. We prepare for everything we consider important in life. You
wouldn’t show up to play in a football game and expect to win if you had not been
training. You wouldn’t show up unprepared to give a big presentation at work and expect
to get the project. We don’t expect to excel in exams if we have not studied. Consider the
preparation that goes into hosting a barbecue, a dinner party, or a wedding.
Now I don’t mean the typical Christmas preparations. Buying and wrapping presents.
Baking cookies. Planning parties. Putting up the lights, the tree, and other decorations. I
mean preparing you. When was the last time you prepared your heart for Jesus’ coming at
Christmas?
Looking for a simple way to start preparing your heart to receive the Jesus, this
Christmas season? Join us for Best Advent Ever.
We prepare for everything we consider important in life. In every case
preparation makes a wonderful experience possible. When was the last time
you prepared your heart for Christmas?
Advent is a season of preparation. And if we want to experience the true
magic and meaning of Christmas, we need to take a break from our to-do
lists and get our hearts ready for Christmas. (From Dynamic Catholic)
Here are some questions for family sharing during the Advent Season
Where did you see in another person Jesus today?
Share one gift that you see in each person in the family
Read the Christmas story and pick one of the characters in the story
that you would like to be. Share why you picked that character with
your family
Make special Christmas bread or cookies to share with a friend for
Christmas
Each Sunday at Mass listen carefully to the readings and reflect on a
part of the reading that you feel is special and why?
Do prayer rings of paper that string together and on the inside place
people to pray for each day. Keep adding to the string and hang in
your house for Christmas.

especial. El sufrimiento nos pone
en contacto con nuestra condición
humana vulnerable y la conciencia
profunda de que Jesús asumió esta
naturaleza nuestra para traernos
paz y gozo, Consuelo y amor.
A Christmas message of Simplicity and Tenderness
As we contemplate the essence of Christmas, we look to the stable and crib for inspiration in the midst of so many harsh
realities we are faced with today. Some of you might not want to contemplate the face of suffering humanity, but that is
what precisely makes Christmas so special. Suffering puts us in touch with our vulnerable, human condition and the pro-
found awareness that Jesus assumed this nature of ours to bring us peace and joy, comfort and love. Pope Francis says,
“ in the simplicity of the crib we find and contemplate the Tenderness of God manifested in the Child Jesus.”
Contemplating this God-made-flesh, our hearts are warmed by the beauty and simplicity of this setting of the stable and
we are invited to “gaze, consider, contemplate, so what you might imitate,” In the words of St. Claire of Assist. St. Fran-
cis went to the heart of the matter when he invited the people of Assisi to be part of the first Christmas stable that he
simulated so that everyone could be moved by the “Love that has loved us.”
