Important things to remember
Charity Film Awards is about taking part. Every additional video view, every social media share, every press story,
every conversation on the doorstep, every donation adds to the power of your cause and your message.
The average video view on Charity Film Awards is to 80% completion. This is an incredibly high figure.
Charity Film Awards allows you to drive that conversation by a unique request: “Vote for Us”.
It is simple and easy for your supporters to do. And it is simple for them to share.
Some of the views of your film will be via your social profiles. Not every view becomes a vote. But every view is
good!
You are in a category with charities who have a similar turnover to you.
Anyone can vote.
Voting closes at Midnight on December 1st.

The link to your film is the most important thing
to for your campaign. It makes it easy for your
supporters to find and vote for your film.
To find it go to
www.charityfilmawards.com/charities and type
in your charity name. You can then click on the
link. This will take you to your page. It is unique
to your charity.

Take the opportunity to have a conversation with people who
tag or respond to your film. This is a great moment to engage
them about your cause and show them you care about them
as donors. Every year huge opportunities arise for charities
that use Charity Film Awards as the catalyst for conversation
with their supporters.
Celebrities
Get in touch with your celebrity ambassadors and
contacts.
Especially if the appear in your film.
Local politicians and business figures are frequently
also willing to support with a tweet or a post.
Make it easy for them – give them a pre-created post
and words to share. Make sure to include your video
link.

Make sure you have a donate button
On average 8% of voters also donate.
You can add a donate button to your charity profile via your
profile login.
Give as you Live is the Donation Partner for Charity Film
Awards. Charities can collect instant donations via the Give as
you Live Donate service. Your supporters can make one-off or
monthly repeat donations via the new platform. Even better,
they have the option to cover the donation transaction fee, so
you’ll receive 100% of their donation and a Gift Aid supplement
if applicable.

Google Ad Grants
Google Ad Grants is a Google programme offering eligible UK
charities and non-profits $10,000 per month of in-kind search
advertising to spend on helping the charity do more.
That's nearly £90,000 per year!
As well as for raising funds, recruiting volunteers and
promoting your cause you could use some of your Ad Grant to
get votes for your Charity Film Award Entry. We’ve teamed up
with specialist Charity Ad Grant specialist Anuncia.

Some creative ideas
Write about your video and Charity Film Awards in your newsletter updates.
Send a dedicated email to your supporters asking for their votes.
Don’t forget to mention your film when you meet people face to face. One of
last year’s winners canvassed for votes while on his delivery route.
Display a poster asking for votes in your office or a local shop. Last year a
newsagent at a busy commuter station carried a poster for its local charity
asking for votes.
Think about asking any whatsapp groups you are in to vote and share.
Use free resources like www.canva.com to create bespoke social media
images for sharing.

FAQs
Can you tell me how many votes we have?
We don’t reveal individual voting numbers. We are committed to celebrating
every film that takes part. We occasionally reveal overall numbers. After 1
week of voting (for 400 charity films) the total is 15k votes.
How many films go to the next round?
It depends slightly on votes. Somewhere between 10 and 20 films per
category will make it to the judging round.
When will you announce who’s in the next round?
Once voting is finished we keep everything under wraps until early in the New
Year.

When is the Awards Ceremony?
The Awards Ceremony will take place in late March/ April. In central London
Where will it be?
We are working on some major changes to the format of the Awards
Ceremony.. We’ll let you know the details as soon as possible.
How are the winners decided?
After the first round public vote the category winners are decided by our
panel of judges.
The People’s Choice Award is entirely based on the public vote however and
the overall Charity Film of the Year is a combination of judging panel and
public vote.
Film Industry RecognitionAll Winning Charity Film Awards films are preserved within the BFI National Archive of non-fiction films. Officially part of the UK’s cinematic heritage.
In July 2019 Charity Film Awards was officially recognised by IMDb as an international film awards programme, based on the quality of its press coverage and judges.
