Top price of the day was 215p/kg and £1,514 for a grand 704kg Limousin x steer from George Richards Farms of Summercourt purchased by R.J. Trevarthen Ltd of Roskrow. Leading heifer another Limousin x from the same farm selling at 204p/kg and £1,218 also to R.J. Trevarthen Ltd.

A fair entry of cull cows met an improvement in the trade and good demand for both dairy and beef types. A pair of British Blue x cows led the averages for Messrs. R.J. & E.J. Hemmings of Lanlivery to a top of 123p/kg bought by David Ellis of Lelant. Premium Friesian selling at 116p/kg to Dawn West Devon of Hatherleigh for Mr. D.J. Heller of Blackwater whose second-best at 115p/kg made top money of £990 to David King of Exeter with the pick from Mr. D. Pascoe of Sithney selling at 114p/kg and £942 to Dawn West Devon. A quiet time for stores as is usual as we run up to the end of the year. The stores that were entered were younger sorts and sold extremely well with plenty of buyers around the ring. Top price at £870 were a pair of 16 month old British Blue x steers from Mr. R.D. White of Mount Hawke. Heifers to £830 for an 18 month old Limousin pair from Messrs. I.D. & S.S. Backway of St. Eval. This week’s highlight was a grand entry of 19 pure-bred South Devons being this year’s calves born mid-January to early March from Messrs. G. & H. Rogers of Carbis Bay which saw the top trio of steers hit £805 and best three heifers at £520.
