I am reaching for the highest goal

That I might receive the prize.

Our church will be hosting a Life Line Screening on Wednesday, August 29th. Life Line Screening is the nation’s leading provider for preventative health screenings and they will be offering five different ultrasound screenings. These screenings are for people 35 to 40

and above.

Stroke Screening – which looks for plaque buildup in the

arteries in the neck.

Heart Rhythm Screening – Painless EKG that can detect an

irregular heart rhythm.

AAA – which checks for an aneurysm in the aorta that could

lead to a ruptured aortic artery.

PAD screening – this screening checks for plaque buildup in the lower extremities. PAD is a strong predictor for heart

disease.

And a bone density screening, which tests both men and

women for the early detection of osteoporosis.

These screenings are painless, non-invasive, and require about an hour to complete. You must pre-register for an appointment. We already have close to 20 appointments! If you sign up today you can save $10 and Life Line Screening will donate $10 back to our Church! The value before the $10 discount is $139 for the Vascular Package, and $149 for the

Wellness Package.

All we need is your name and phone number on the

registration sheet or you can call Amy @ 901-849-6842 cell

You don’t have to pay anything today but you do need to have a scheduled appointment for the screening. They will call you to

schedule a time.

Lifeline Screening...

Dear Friends,

Company’s comin’! As the summer is ending, and we return to school, work, and the routine of fall, we will be welcoming many new faces to our church. Some will be folks who are looking for answers; some for spiritual strength; some for friendship; some for a new church home.

If you have ever been in a situation where you were the visitor, as I have been many times in my life, you may remember how awkward and uncertain you have felt. I know from experience how difficult it can be to come in to a new place, where everyone seems to know one another, and you feel like a stranger.

So, I want to encourage you to extend a warm welcome to those who will be visiting in our church for the first time. We will be reintroducing a greeter ministry that will welcome our guests at the parking lot and the front door, beginning in September. Our guests will be treated with hospitality, in-vited to sign our guest book, and personally introduced to some of you by our greeters. I urge you to extend the hand of fellowship to our guests, and even invite them to sit with you in church. Statistics indicate that newcomers who make seven new friends in a church within six months almost never leave the church!

You will also notice in September that there will be four new parking spaces devoted to our first-time visitors. We are putting out the welcome mat so that our guests can have a good impression of our hospitality.

I am sure that we will all apply the words of Jesus and of the writer of He-brews as welcome our guests: “I was a stranger and you welcomed me” (Matthew 25:35); and “don’t forget to be friendly to outsiders; for in so do-ing, some people, without knowing it, have entertained angels” (Hebrews 13:2)

A Note From the Pastor… Bro. Tom Letchworth

If so, you are invited to attend the Alpha Celebration Supper on Sunday, September 9 at 6:00 in the gym-nasium. The Alpha Course is a ten week short course on the meaning of life from a Christian perspec-tive, and addresses such subjects as “Why and How Do I Pray?” “How Does God Guide Us?” “What Does the Holy Spirit Do?” “Does God Heal Today?” “How Can I Make the Most of the Rest of My Life?” and many other topics.

The Alpha Celebration Supper will be an opportunity to hear from others who have taken the course, and to get a taste of what Alpha has to offer. Please sign and detach the form attached if you plan to join us!

We need your blood!

Please sign up to give blood this Saturday, August 25, between 11:00 and 5:00.

Here's why: In the U.S., someone needs a blood transfusion every two to three seconds, and 95% of all Americans will need a blood transfusion at some point in their lives. One pint of blood has the potential to save four lives!

The lives you save may be people that you know and love.

And we are certain that the lives you save are known and loved by God.
