What is MAU?

Machinery-space Accumulator Unit (MAU) is the smallest Marioff HI-FOG system, developed to protect enclosures containing machinery equipment against fire.

MAU is small also compared to other FM approved accumulator units

Marioff HI-FOG MAU system is of a deluge type, releasing through open spray-heads when activated.

MAU unit is actuated either manually or automatically.

MAU is a self contained unit, requiring no supply of electric power or water for operation

Marioff HI-FOG MAU was tested for both fire-righting ability and for component qualities to the satisfaction of FM (USA), VdS (Germany), TFRI (China) and VNIIPO (Russia).

Structure & Components

Gas cylinders

Preferably provided by local supplier.

Dimensions: Diameter: ca. 240 mm Maximum cylinder height: ca. 1600 mm Thread type: 24,32 1,814 SFS2292

(adaptor applicable for several options)

Each MAU has a single compressed gas cylinder: MAU-50: 20 Litre MAU-100 \ MAU-150: 50 Litre (minimum nominal capacity 48

Litre)

Compressed gas may be either air or nitrogen. Applicable pressure of

compressed gas should be one of the following: 150 bar @ 15C 200 bar (preferable) @ 15C 250 bar @ 15C

Page 11: Marioff HI-FOG MAU Systems Marioff HI-FOG Training 4 August 2008 Amit Lior.

Structure & ComponentsWater cylinders

Nominal capacity of 50 litres.

Amount of water cylinders depend on the size of the accumulator unit.

Type of water cylinder depends on the compressed gas pressure and the place in the MAU assembly.

NOTE:

Water cylinders can not change from one type of MAU to the other.

Water cylinders can not be altered within each MAU.

MAU set for one pressure can not use gas cylinders with other pressure.

Spray-Heads

4S 1MC 8MB 1100

Spray-heads are installed in one of the following orientations:

At ceiling level, discharging downward.

Wall mounted, discharging horizontally.

Page 30: Marioff HI-FOG MAU Systems Marioff HI-FOG Training 4 August 2008 Amit Lior.

Spray-Heads

Amount of Spray-Heads:

65 m3 : one spray-head

130 m3 : two spray-heads

260 m3 : four spray-heads

Note: These numbers are the minimum, and more spray-head may be required if e.g.:

in order to keep max. spacing limits between spray-heads in a long room

obstruction prevents the construction of economic and uniform grid

the amount of fire risks justifies more spray-heads for proper coverage

For 10 minutes discharge:

MAU-50 : 1 spray-head

MAU-100 : 2 spray-heads

MAU-150 : 4 spray-heads

Page 31: Marioff HI-FOG MAU Systems Marioff HI-FOG Training 4 August 2008 Amit Lior.

Distribution Network

Network for the release of one or two spray-headsNetwork for the release of one or two spray-heads:

O/D 12 mm ( 1,2 mm wall thickness)

Network for the release of three or more spray-heads:

O/D 16 mm ( 1,5 mm wall thickness) from the accumulator unit to the first T-piece.

O/D 12 mm ( 1,2 mm wall thickness) from the first T-piece thereafter.

Maximum length of piping used for the construction of the network:

20 m of O/D 12 mm pipes.

10 m of O/D 16 mm pipes.

single spray-head, typically installed at the centre of the ceiling

two spray-heads, installed either at ceiling level or wall mounted

four spray-heads, installed either at ceiling level or discharging horizontally
