A challenging operating environment demands cost-effective ways to optimize
engine performance. Steps taken to lower operational costs include slow steaming
and increasing the propeller diameter and design.
Vessels operating at a lower RPM are vulnerable to an increased tendency for cold
corrosion to develop inside the cylinder, which is even more evident in the latest
super-long-stroke design engines. Taro® cylinder oils, combined with DOT.FAST® drip
oil analysis, can significantly reduce or prevent against the effects of cold corrosion.
